That is a painted up stock 77 or 78 XR75. It has aftermarket Maier plastic side covers and front fender.

cool so it has after market parts. I was looking at all the pics and was wondering cause it looked different.

What about the swing arm it is powder coated white could that be aftermarket as well?

I dunno why but I saw this bike ride by at a swap meet and it just made me smile. Riding it in the pits with these bars makes me happy. Another bike in the garage makes my wife angry.

It is a 4 speed. I don't know what year. Can anyone help me ID the VIN or engine number?

7th VIN digit. "0" for '74, "1" for '74, etc.

I'm guessing 74, with a few custom touches, like the exhaust heat shield, bars, seat, and the sweeet tool bag:)

The seat is supposedly original. The heat shield is from a 350, the front wheel is 17", tool bag is pure Harly..

I'm going to interpolate that to mean "1 = '75" :D. According to this, mine is a '75. The seat is suppoedly original.

How about the engine? The 7th digit on the engine is a 2 which would make it a '76? I did not think they were made in '76...

I fixed it:)

Is it possible you are a poo face?

I found this in a search. My 7th digit is a 1 but my 6th digit is a 2. So, according to this, that would mean I have a '75 frame.

According to the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide, the VIN is a 7 digit number, as shown below:

1973 - XR75-1000001~

1974 - XR75-1100001~

1975 - XR75-1200002~

1976 - XR75-1300001~

1977 - XR75-1400013~

1978 - XR75-1500003~

It appears your research has paid off:) I do not currently have poo on my face, but there have been accidents with diaper-tossing at the FP garage/kennel/nursery/coffee shop/shoe shine parlor.

The seat may be original, but that cover is not. The early 70's Japanese Nauga herd was almost exclusively dark-skinned, with fewer tanning wrinkles.

I want to put a solo springer seat on it anyway. Do you know if Ape pipes will fit?

Ape pipe will bolt to the head, likely. From there back, it's a crap-shoot.

I can not condone a a springer seat, unless accompanied by a giant spring and a latch mechanism, that launches the rider over the bars if an immovable object if struck. Or a remote-controlled button is pushed.

Standard seat install has two solid propellant rockets for when it's time to punch out.

I cant keep anything stock. Besides those cruiser bars are just screaming for a solo seat.
