OK, at some point I suppose I can quit joking around and get back to the build. Made the third and hopefully final version of the exhaust hanger bracket. I was so confident of it's permanence that it was fully welded in. There is a little nub at the top to hook the brake pedal return spring to. Also welded up the expansion slots on the muffler in-pipe. Getting ready to weld up the pipe a little more. The bike awaiting bracket welding.
What? No under the middle of the seat exhaust? LOL Looks great my Artist friend! If you want a original look motor, I got a 114 for sale.

Hey, don't laugh too much, I actually did consider the under the butt arrangement, but that seat motion would make it kind of hard. Maybe on the next bike...

Working on the tank, getting some of the dents out, and trying to get some details finished before welding up the bottom of the tank. The inside mounting plate for the petcock was fitted on the bottom panel of the tank. The glove box got welded up a little more. Made some dents in the sides of the tank for some emblem bling, and used some mounting tabs from another tank. I really wanted to use some original minitrail badges, just as a reminder of what this bike started as. If everything goes well, I should be able to weld the rest of the tank tonight or tomorrow.

Awesome fabrication skills!
Thanks, Thomas. The words of encouragement really do mean a lot to me. Got the bottom of the tank welded and ground, but have not tested it yet for leaks. Mounted the petcock, and found a gas cap that fits. Still need the
hold-down for the rear of the tank. It will be inside the glove box.

Got a little done today. Fiddled around with fittings and oil coolers. Man, there are way too many thread sizes used on all the different coolers and head taps out there. Think I might have it figured out. Made the hold-down for the rear of the tank. Now I realize it would have been a lot easier if I had done this in reverse. Used a Z50 K3 type rear tank cushion. There is a big washer and a socket-head screw going into a threaded hole in the frame to secure it all. The reason I did it this way was so the glove box is not welded to the tank, but still held in place. Well, it is now secure, and it feels good. Probably going to be the week-end before I get any serious time on this project.

Lived in Houston for 7 years. Ended up installing A/C in my garage.
I lived in the Sugarland area of Houston for a few years, ground floor apartment, used to throw down a tarp and wrench in my livingroom if it was too hot outside. Central NY has been just as miserable this summer.

I lived just outside of Albany, NY for 10 years. Cold in winter and hot, humid and miserable in summer. Glad I'm back home in the Pacific Northwest. Aside from the rain it's never too hot or too cold to work in the garage.
