I would say yeah, Im new to the pitbike world but I have been doing a little bit of research and a lot of adults use kx 65s as mini gp bikes (supermoto). I believe I read somewhere that the kx 60 has less ability for suspension mods compared to the 60 though.

 

It would-- (look one post down-- that's me on my 65), but depending on how cheap you could get the 60 for-- you'd probably be best off with an XR/CRF80/100, KLX110, or bigger TTR125. The 60 is loud, small, and hard to ride. The bikes I described are inexpensive-- and they'd make the whole riding experience more enjoyable than struggling with a two stroke racer. --L*64

So Lucky*64- the thing that initially got me interested in the KX60 is they are going for very low prices. Since I'd only be able to use this bike when I visit my folks, I don't want to spend a lot. Looks like a 10-ish year old KX 60 is going for $500-$700 and some look to be in pretty good shape. A KLX 110, for example, goes for over $1,000 in good shape.

Which is bigger? A stock KLX 110 or a stock KX60?

Any additional feedback appreciated.

 

The klx110 will be a few inches shorter and way less suspension than the kx60, not to mention slower. But the klx110 is a little more comfortable for a larger rider probably than the 60 because of the slightly larger body work. i dont know how it is there, but i picked up an 06 klx110 with less than 20hrs that needed an output shaft for $400. The upkeep on the 60 will also be a bit more because it is a race bike so it will either foul plugs if not ridden open or go through top ends if you ring it out all the time. Although you will be a much better rider if you learn to use the 2 stroke

If i was in your situation, id go with the cheapest. I love two strokes so i would prefer a 60/65 over a 110 but id never hear then end of it because around here people are too strict on pitbike rules.
either way i think you would be happy with either if you are just playing around.

 

I have a kx 60 ( pm won't let me upload the pictures!) and I love the frigen thing. As previously mentioned though everyone will give you shit for riding it but trust me. The grin on your face when your done riding will be totally worth it

 

You can get a $700 KLX110. Ya have to watch for them, and grab 'em right away. What makes the 110 more comfortable than the 60 is that the pegs are way lower than the 60 pegs are. Alot less cramped feeling.

For $700-- grab an XR80 or 100. They're good too. You'll have fun on whatever you get, and I'm a two stroke freak myself-- but in this situation, I think you'd be alot happier on the 4 banger. Try to get a test ride on one before you buy one. --L*64

 

Okay, I looked into the KLX 110 a little more. The owner's manual says max rider weight is like 120 lbs. I'm guessing it's not a problem to go over that?

Your good, my subframe on my 07 r6 has a warning sticker that says maximum weight 85 lbs. Run it till it breaks and have fun in the process

 

I've got an XR80, XR100 and a few little 2 Stroke racers. For low-key trail riding, I'd be hard pressed to find a bike that's more fun than the XR80. You can find them cheap, they're cheap to maintain and they're bullet proof as long as you keep oil in them. Don't worry about the max weight either.

 

For riding trails an XR is a lot better. I ride my sons XR75 on trails and it hauls my 200+ lbs. around just fine. Could probably ride it faster if the suspension was set up for my weight.

The KX60 doesn't produce enough torque to haul around an adult unless you keep the throttle pinned. Then you'll be doing top ends pretty regularly. Of course you could sink a small fortune into porting and add a FWW, but there goes having a cheap trail bike.
