Well I started this thread with a grandiose title and after 127 posts, I still had not done any actual work on the bike. There was a lot of jaw jackin' and story tellin', not to mention shuckin' and jivein' on that thread but this thread is where I will post the build pictures.
I have spent a lot of time just thinking about what to do with the bike. Restoring it to new would have been easy - just tear it apart, clean it, paint it, put it back together, boom - done. I want something different though. Because the SL70 has a "standard" bike frame, there are way more possibilities than just another Honda mini dirt bike. I still have not decided on the color yet but I am going to try to make it look like an older Scrambler type bike. Possibly giving a nod to the older ISDT race bikes.
Finding the right pipe has been the hardest part so far. I may use a CT70 pipe to get the scrambler mid-pipe look. Or if I can find the right brake pedal, I could put a low pipe on. Whatever I do with the exhaust, it will probably be horizontal as opposed to the stock up sweep pipe. I also have a Cobra pipe from an ATC125 but it will need to be cut and welded to shape. Below are some concept images just to demonstrate that I have not been doing much building, but I have been doing alot of Hmmmm ing about shapes and lines and pipes etc.
