Also I've heard rumors that the stock tb 108 is somehow faster that the 117...I don't know how thats possible but can someone clear this up please?

 

The 108 kit can be run with the TB non-stroker (88kit) piston for higher compression, assuming you want to run race gas. Every time I've heard someone say that setup is faster than a 117, it's been rebutted saying it may spin up further, but the 117 has more power across the board. Makes sense to me, the 117 should be able to outgun it from bottom to top.

The 117 is faster than the 108, the guy who said that is a tard. The 117 is much faster than the 108 with them both in stock trim. Im sure with a hella work to a 108 against a stock 117 it might could run beside the 117, but then simply do the same work to the 117 and its a monster. THe 117 has much more torque and power across the board over the 108 and simply pulls it every which way possible.



And for your needs. go with the TB117, especially if you dont really plan on racing for a while. Even so though, the TB117 will be more than plenty competitive against the likes of 124se's.

 

I have two kitaco 124se motors they flat out will rip your arms off the bars, but if you just want it for messing around the tb 117 will be just fine and if you want it to be stronger send it to crower to have a cam put in it. He told me he can get 11hp out of the tb 108. He is redoing one of my bikes right now and adding a cam. I will let you know what that dynos at.

 

My brothers 124SE is pretty much just untouchable on the track. It really isnt comparable but the 117 will be great for you as well...Just depends on how fast you want to go. lol. I think a 117 is going to be my next kit.

yes you can. But you have to know what you are doing. I just finished one.

My 124SE runs SOOO smooth, if you have the money i would go for the 124 SE. I have a inner rotor so it kinda sucks for backyard bashing but with a stock flywheel i think it would be fine. The thing is with these big motors is the powerband range is so big that you dont need to be using all the power to get somewhere, you can still just putt around on it. Unlike the smaller motors like the 88s where you have to be pinned to be moving anywhere.



Now i have never ridden a 117 TB motor so i cant say how that compares, im just stating that the 124 SE is a GREAT running motor.

yeah the price of the 117 from TB is awesome. But the fastest bikes I have been up against are 117 and 124 SE's. They are amazingly fast but you pay for it!

 

Yea, no doubt the Kitaco se motors are faster, you just gotta dig that much deeper in your wallet.

 

Do you think the 117 can be massaged to produce the same HP as the 124SE setup? I wonder if you combined a TB 54mm piston/cylinder/head with a Kit/Tak crank to take it up to 124 if that would be enough to bridge the gap or if the head would be the limiting factor...

 

To run a the kitaco/takewaga 54mm crank wont you need a 69mm tall cylinder? Which means you have to run the kitaco/takewaga cylinder and i dont think the TB piston would work at that point.

If the crank needs a tall cylinder, I'll source that through AHP. At that point, I should be able to get a nice high comp piston from Dr ATV? I'm just trying to think of a way to hit 124cc, come up with similar power, but not spend $1.5k on it.

 

Would the dr atv piston work with the tb head though?if it does thats probley what i'll be doing.

 

The TB head has the same combustion chamber shape as a Honda GB5, so just get the GB5 piston.

 

I've made my decision..Im going with the 124se, since I have the money I might as well go all out.
