A friend was trying to change the fork seals in his sp5s. We watched the BBR youtube vid on it and got to work. We made it down to the fork seals, when we pried one out, the outside edge of the seal ripped and is still stuck in the lip between the tube and seal "cup" (not sure of an actual name for it.)

We tried the second one also, this time we heated it up a lot more and it still did the same thing. Any suggestions?

Set them in some boiling water to soften the rubber and then pry em out. They are a pita I watched the bbr video before I changed mine when I had em and then went and did it. I had similar results other than I didn't tear the seal. I've never used the boiling water but have heard it works good. I just used a propane torch and slowly walked the seal out

I think with.boiling water to soften em up and a screwdriver you'll be able to get under and work em up. Be careful though you can mess up the top pretty easy from the screwdriver digging into it.

Does that metal insert inside come out? Where the tube gets skinny and the seal rests on, or does it stay in?
