Anyone use brembos that were made in Thailand? How do they compare to the real ones? Are they dependable? Have fitment issues? Pros and *****? How can you spot a fake? Please share your experiences.

Thank you.

I have a rear two pot caliper in the 84mm variety and a real brembo of the same.

My brembo is the gold color and the thailand special is silver. Here is my take on them so far.

If you don't know, I have this mounted up on a custom fabricated bracket on the rear of my CT70 using a china spoked 12" wheel and 120/70-12 tire and a 180mm disc.

I mounted up the Thailand special first as that is how I designed and fabbed the bracket. I got it all together and bled the brakes and took it for a spin down the road and was unimpressed with its brakeing ability. I bled it a few more times and purged all the fluid and tried again...same result.

I then mounted the real brembo and bled the system out. Went down the road and had no problem locking the rear wheel with a little pressure on the brake.

When mounting, I noticed something peculiar though...the Real Brembo and the Thailand special brembo had the bleeder and the brake lines reversed to one another. So, I changed them on the Thailand special and rebled.

Now the Thailand one gripped WAAAAAY better and even better than the real brembo. I assume that it gripped better only because the real brembo had come off a ducati with 12k miles on it and still had the original pads while the fake brembo had brand new pads.

Overall, to me, they operate the same and have the same braking power. I can't speak for reliability though. Also, the real brembos have a nicer surface finish.

If you are considering a thailand special brembo, 2-pt for the rear, I will sell you mine...it has about 1000 total yards on it and does work as good as the real thing.

The Thai brembos are copies and not the real article as you are aware.

Ask Fatcaaat as I think he has/had some. **Edit, he beat me to the punch**

I have no comment on the copies since I won't ever own any and will stick with the geniune article to trust my life with.

I wish I knew how to tell them apart. I have been considering buying a Thai master cylinder to give it a shot, but I am not sure how much I trust them.

A 2 pot brembo caliper is only $95 for a top bleed and around $145 for a side bleed.

The radial calipers are $330 and the 4 pots are $200.

Dunno where you pulled your prices from. I have brembos on 3 of my small Hondas and won't run anything else.
