just take the cover off and look at the o-ring and if its bad get a new one..not a gasket its rubber..prob. bad

 

replace the gaskets. or use a little gasket sealer from your local auto part store.

 

Check the oring or if its a new head check the exhaust stud has sealer on it. could be leaking from the stud too

 

im having an oil leak from some where on my bike also. did you get yours fixed? and what was it if you did. I dont know where my leak is coming from, but the back of my shifter (where the threads are on the lever) is always caked with mud like its leaking from around that area. It takes a while to come out and when it does its a puddle of oil left on my stand. any one know of any common oil leaks? or what this could be? thanks for all your help

your counter shaft is leaking. mine leaks a little there too, but i say its just lubing the chain while i ride....

 

Turns out my exhaust tappet cover was leaking.



I replaced the o-ring.. the old one was probably ok, maybe just dirty.



(Btw, I picked up a new one at the kawasaki dealer out of convinence --- but not my wallet --- it was $10... for what is basically a rubber band.)

 

Damn im located right out of sf I have a million extra tappet orings. I could have gave you one for free. Do you do any riding around here?

 

I'm a bit further south from SF... like around mountain view.



I'm trying to get back into off road after about a ten year hiatus.



Right now, most of the riding I'm doing is at metcalf in far south san jose -- its about a 30 minute drive for me (which fwiw I think is too far).

I find that riding the mini track is good exercise.



I will probably also go down to hollister this summer, maybe a couple times.



Yeah.. I didnt even realize the dealer parts would be so pricey.. I figured at most a couple bucks.

if that happens again just use some gasket maker from your auto parts store. works fine. the price is a rip off on those little gaskets.
