will it get worse with a craddle? or just stay the same? ive got 3 buddies with this, all of them are thinking about buying new motors/fifties cause the problem intimidates them... will a regular welder work? i figured it was some sh-t pot metal or something that couldnt be welded

No it is aluminum, any competent welder should be able to do the job easily.

 

I had a motor mount break ,the guys at work welded it for me ,it has been about 2 years and has held up ,they suggested that I take the engine completely off of the bike to protect the bearings in the engine when the frame was being welded.

 

Take the engine 100% out of the bike. Have an aluminum welder add on a small piece of aluminum to the top of your engine mount for added protection. Weld, attach, weld.... done. Then put it back in your bike and you're set. Done this a half dozen times on different engines. Works great.
