Someday, I hope I can do something like that. I found one on ebay reasonable, but by the time the guy made up his mind to sell it to me for the price, I had given up and bought an engine for my pit bike. Leaving me in no financial condition to do the deal. Someday, though! Keep the pics coming

you ruined an S65

purists are rolling in their graves

granted it will be cool when its done, but you still ruined an S65

Naw....it was ruined when I bought it. The only thing I kept from the whole bike...and I mean the WHOLE bike was the frame, tank, and foot brake lever along with a few nuts and bolts. Everything else was parted out because it needed total restoration.

But, when it is done, it should look pretty pimp. And if my 178cc engine doesn't work out (since it is total custom), I'll have a 160 to put in its place that will work out fine.

That is very cool. I would love to do a restomod like that.

I would like to read more details on the engine build. Keep us posted!

Here's some progress pics. The tank will not be white, but more of a grayish color. I need the wheels trued and they are then ready.
Hi, I just purchased a s65 and I am about to tear into her and start from the bottom. A couple questions, what rear suspension did you use and did it snap right on? Also, did you rewire your bike for 12v instead of 6v? I am thinking about throwing a Lifan 125cc engine in because I have heard good things about them and they are cheap. I will most likely have more questions haha. Cheers!

Update on the project.

Ok...here's an update to the s65 project thus far. I've taken the forks and gauges from the project and put them on my black cl70. They are more fitting. This is coming out much nicer than anticipated and is very comfortable.

Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

Shims

Looks like you have more travel than clearance on the CL between the bottom clamp and the top of the tire. You have really nice bikes.

You shim them on the inside and reduce the 6" of travel to 4" of travel to prevent bottoming out. No big issue and not much of concern on a street bike. If you need 6" travel on a street bike, you need to find roads without huge potholes.
