The 5 speed dry clutch kit that I have order is 02-03-0003

My questions to you is:

Is the 5 speed transmission that is included in my 02-03-0003 package, the same as the 5 speed transmission 02-04-0059?

So I would have to buy the 02-04-0063 (cross mission conversion kit), to make my 02-03-0003 kit work with the heavy duty crankcase?

If that is the case, than the cross mission and the heavy duty crankcase should about set me back another $1000 :(

Also, can you let me know which version of transmission would be best suited to tight twisty mountain roads? Since the 5 speed super street I order is just base on a guess that I wouldn't need the topspeed with the super touring so super street sound about right for the tight twisty mountain or would you recommend something different or maybe 6 speed?

The parts should still be in Japan since the shop I order from have inform me that it would take them at least a week to order the parts so maybe I still have a chance to change my order if I decided to change it to a different part number.

Thanks Adam, for all the help. Without it, I would probably be stuck somewhere down the line;)

shame i dont have the takegawa catalogue handy to see if part number 02-03-0003 has been around for a while

someone else should have ,

the 5 speed transmission 02-04-0059 is newly released

as you say,

"If it is not the same transmission, than I would most likely have to buy the 02-04-0063 (cross mission conversion kit), to make my 02-03-0003 kit work with the heavy duty crankcase."

this is correct :)

i think the super-street will suit fine , or maybe super-cross, personally i've not tried those gearbox's but there poular in europe,

6 speed i say is too weak ,many have failed

if you decided to change the order at your shop ,

your part from number 02-03-0003 to 02-04-0059

i'm sure part 02-04-0059 is just a gearbox and not a clutch and gearbox kit

ask the shop regarding this, its likely there not informed

your better off with the conversion in my opinion

I will email the shop tonight to see if I can change the 5 speed transmission to the correct version so I can use it without the cross mission conversion kit.

I think using the heavy duty crankcase will be an advantage as you point out. Will take me a bit longer to finish the project since there always seem to be parts that I have miscalculated or forgot to add to the project. Will slowly buy one part at a time.

Thanks once again, very much appreciated:D

that is amazing, i couldnt tell if the red number reader on the handle bars was his air fuel or when he pluged the meter in. Either way that is insane has no hesitation what so ever. 13 A/f ratio isnt to bad. Although looks like the handle bars is the air fuel, any info on it would be epic.

kk32 you are building one awesome bike i cannot wait to see it finished

Finally some update to my Monkey project.

Thanks to Adam Z50+R, I was able to change to the correct part numbers in time before they send the parts from Japan. I change my dry clutch kit from the 4 clutch disk to the recent release 5 clutch disk. I have also order the 5 speed transmission to suit the Takegawa heavy duty crankcase. Ended up also ordering the 138cc Dohc kit and also the heavy duty crankcase. I am not sure when all the parts will get here since I am still waiting to find out. My guess is 1-3 weeks away.

With my OV-30, I wasn't happy with the side location of the Steering Damper that Over Racing have design for the OV-30 frame. My plan was to custom make my own bracket so I can install the steering damper just between the front fork and the gas tank. I decided to take my bike down to the CNC machine shop that I have used in the pass (for my titanium exhaust shield). The shop will custom design and make a bracket for my steering damper at the location that I want. It will end up costing me about $50-$80 extra, when compare to the steering damper bracket from Over Racing. Hoping to seeing the finish product in the next few days. Here is a photo of my titanium exhaust shield that the same shop have make (to prevent my shoe from melting against my exhaust).

My brother who own a chrome gorilla heard about me ordering parts for my Monkey engine so he decided to order a complete Takegawa engine himself. A present from himself, for his 30th B-day. He used to own a Gorilla when he was 13, that bike was sold a long time ago. Ever since he sold that bike he have always wanted to build up another gorilla bike.

I gave him some suggestion on his project and we ended up ordering:

Takegawa 138cc Twin Spark + R Kit

Takegawa Heavy Duty Crank Case

Takegawa Dry Clutch Kit + 5 speed transmission

Takegawa CDI

Takegawa Kick arm

Over Racing side stand.

Over Racing GP rear step

On his next order in January, he will order the OV-33 and the TMR-MJN carb.

Here is the photo of the Gorilla as it is now.

Will update with more photos once the parts start to arrive.

Thanks Robb:D

Well, I got some update to my project. Look like my project and my brothers bike wont be complete anytime soon since the 138ccm DOHC kit, 138ccm Twin Spark +R Head Kit, Heavy Duty Crank Case and the 5 Speed conversion kit will all not be available until Feb 10 from Takegawa. I am guessing they have run out of parts. A real bummer:(

In the 1st batch of parts I have recieved 2 Takegawa Dry Clutch Kit, Over GP Rear Step for the Gorilla, Takegawa CDI and Takegawa Kickarm. The rest wont arrive until after Feb 10:( The TMR-MJN-28 will arrive after new year holiday and I have an offer for a second hand TMR-MJN-30 but I am not sure if it will be easy to tune with the 138cc or I should just stick to the TMR-MJN-28 also for the Gorilla. Any ideas???

In the mean time, I will custom make 2 clutch cover like a lot of the Japanese bike and my Takegawa clutch kit that I have order is for cable line and not hydraulic. The new cover I make, will make it a hydraulic system.

Photos of the two clutch kit.

Photos of the Over GP rear step for the Gorilla bike. It is so nice, if budget allow, I will also upgrade to the Over GP rear step.

Will post more update once I get my custom steering damper bracket back from the machine shop.

Yes, it is no good at all. Wasn't expecting to take this long for the parts to get here.

I have pick up the custom steering damper bracket back from the machine shop.

That is not gonna fit..... As you guys can see the second hole for the screw doesn't line up. The machine shop mess up and now I got to take the bike back to the shop for a new measurment and make sure they make it right this time:wink:

Hope they wont also mess up on my clutch cover since I aint paying for the mistake:p

Thanks Speeddemon:D

Some update to my project.

I have pick up the new steering damper bracket but I haven't taken any photos of it yet. Will take photo of it once I find some free time. During the holiday season a lot of item have arrived from Japan.

Both my brother and I are dying to ride the bike but we just got to wait for the other parts to get here. Probably will be 2 more months before we will be able to ride it:-?

those carb's ......wow!

cant wait for more updates :)

notice how your 5 speed super street's say for monkey FI (injection) !,

directly fitting your Takegawa HD cases & also fitting my honda nice with case mods and a clutch swap :)

hence the gearbox is designed for bearings and not standard needle rollers,

Yes Adam, the monkey bike crowd in Taiwan, thought that I make a mistake and bought the wrong parts:D

Those carb I got at a very good price. The importer order them in before the yen went up so he decided to gave me a great discount, which is good for me

Thanks for taking the time out to help me explain the difference of the crankcases. Without your explanation, I probably would just listen to the bike shop owner and probably end up using the OEM crankcase. Very much appreciated, Thanks:D

Also, I would need a bit more help with regard to the Honda Nice engine. I will PM you once I have the engine in my hand because I am about to get 4 used honda nice engine from BKK, 1 for me, 1 for my bro and 2, for two of my friends here in TW.

Thanks bballard9606, you should get involve with the older 50's bike since they are really great to ride:D

Side1in, funny you said that because I was inspired by a lot of people on this form with their great build with Takegawa motor or Honda Nice motor and because of that, I went on to save the funds for my project. If it wasn't for this forum, I would have went the cheap way and wouldn't have ended up with this project.

Thanks to you all out there on this forum:cool:

That bike and those JDM parts are unbelieveable! Yoshimura carbs with mounting braces, never seen that before. I can't imagine the amount of fuel those things will move. Can't wait to see the finished project. Next item, GO Pro Wide HD video camera, we've got to see video of this bike in action. Congrats!

Jamie these carbs were suppose to be used with the Yamaha Majesty 125. That is why they came with the mount. I will just have to uninstall them.

I have been thinking about the video camera. Go Pro seem good but I dont like the shape of the camera.

I find the ContourHD to be a much better looking camera but with less mounting option. Both are top cameras. It will be a hard decision to make.
