My last thread go filled with a bunch of jibba jabba about this and that not related to my build, so here's a new one.
Here's what I started with, nothing more then a knock off z50 frame that was to be replaced once a suitable legit '79-'86 Honda Z50R could be acquired, some crf50 engine cases and some Asian Concept rear sets.
I sanded and polished the cases before installing an AHP 4 speed into them and sticking a a TB88 with a ported E22 head and crower G2 cam on top. I also drilled out the neutral indicator hole in the CRF cases so that I could hook up the neutral light on the Acewell 2702 gauge I planned to get.
Next, I received my white tank from "bigpete" and an ebay china CRF vertical shock swingarm and mocked things up.
(I stuffed an old 70's Z50 engine in the frame for mock up purposes)
The rear end of the frame had be hacked up a bit. I removed the center subframe support and fabbed up and welded two side supports (crf style) from the base of the frame to the old rear shock mounts.
(keep in mind this is still the knockoff mock-up frame, not much care was taken with cutting and welding...)
With some measuring I discovered that a ZB50 shock would fit perfect for my custom shock/swingarm combo, so I ordered one up from Asian Concept along with a black and white "Monkey" seat
The exhaust came in the mail next, decent quality, stainless can, not bad for $125...
The camera took a bit of a break, so here it is in running condition. I'm using some standard 10" pitbike rims, el cheapo forks (new oil made a world of difference) still have the mock up frame, big fat ol' scooter tires and very uncomfortable ATV Hi protapers bolted on.
Can't find any pics from building the legit frame, but it got the same treatment as the mock-up frame just more time and care with the cuts and welds
Here's the battery box I built, it fits in front of the rear shock and bolts on using the front seat bolt.
I'm planing on running an oil cooler and tapping in an oil temp sensor into the cooler, here's the gauge pod I built for it, powder coated it black afterwards.
Acewell 2702 and Oil temp gauge bolted up and wired up..
According to the Manitoba Law, I need front and rear fenders, here's the rear, drilled and tapped holes (m6x1.25) in the swingarm and used some spacers to bolt on an old CRF front fender with the back trimmed off. It'll be replaced with a black one asap
Here she is all done (they're never really DONE though right...)
Max speed with 88cc, 15/37 gearing, 100/90-10 rear tire
78kmh @ 9300 RPM
I'd still like to build a stainless or aluminum catch can and still waiting on my oil cooler... It's been about 2-3 years in the making, lots of time and money, lots of fun, lots of swearing, but it's soooo worth it.
