Recently picked up a like New Daytona Engine with only 13hrs on it. During the first hour of run time that i put on the bike with this engine, the flywheel broke, and then damaged the Stator. I have another Daytona engine that i have also had terrible luck with: broken right engine case, clutch case, clutch basket, clutch gears, clutch bearing, burned out stator, cracked intake bridge in the cylinder head, etc.. Im sick of throwing the same OEM china parts on the bike that'll break. Anyone know of any NON china replacement flywheels for this engine?

This SUCKS to hear!! I still haven't got to ride my brand new Piranha for more than a few put puts. As you know the kicker shaft broke right out of the gate and it also was missing right out of the gate, they replaced the kicker assembly but it still has the terrible RPM stumble/misfire. They told me they are shipping me a new stator as that's what they think is wrong with it.
This will be my last made in China engine purchase!

Well, here's the deal. The parts already exist, but in foreign markets. You need parts from a Honda Nice and aftermarket pistons from taiwan/japan/malasia. The honda Nice and honda innova are two of the most overbuilt, toughest motors every built for small sub 125cc applications. You take the tranny and clutch from a nice, cases, head and cylinder from daytona, piston from malasia and crank from germany and you have something that will last for decades.

So my computer isn't letting me upload the photo of the broken flywheel at the moment, but the main section of the flywheel that allows you to put a puller on and pull the flywheel off, is the part of the flywheel that broke off... so i have been trying for a couple hours now to get the broken bit off the end of the crank shaft.... not sure what im doing to do. i tried to relief cut the piece but i could only cut so far because the stator is in the way, and i cant get the stator off until i get the bit of the broken flywheel off. i had a clawed type puller but it wasn't made for a heavy duty application and i ended up breaking that tool.. maybe i can find a heavier duty clawed puller that'll work.

Yes all of the problems happened before the aluminum dip stick vibrated out. The Flywheel breaking off is on a different newer Daytona engine. All the other problems i listed happened to the first engine. I only have one short ride on my second Daytona Engine. I have almost 33hrs on my original Daytona that i bought new last winter.

ok, so i got the broken bit off the crank shaft, i welded a nut onto the piece and then used a sliding hammer. i put the Pitster Stator and wiring harness on temporarily, it should run with it but i wonder how the rev limiter compares and timing? i was running 15,000 rev limiter with the advanced timing setting for the Daytona.

T-Rex is the older model 2V 150 motor that Daytona used to make prior to anima.

We still have and ignition & electrical system for the Trex in stock at wholesale-cycle

Otherwise Mitch a Mini107 or Balduino at MBF would be the only other ones to stock it new.

The rev limiter issue in regards to other stators should not be an issue.

Yes I bought the bike new last
Month, I have an hour-ish on it putting around trying to break it in. It has a ton of potential, but you better have access to an endless supply of Piranha & Daytona parts! My Kickstarter shaft broke immediately & it had this mid range stumble its entire hour of existence so far.
The bike runs like shit but still hauls a$$. I am interested in experiencing it at 100%, but I'm wondering if that is even possible & if so I can assume it won't be for long!

Two thumbs down so far!!!

I've ran my anima for aproximatelly 70 hours by now.

I've changed the clutch basked gear once (the decompression didnt work correcly, after i fixed it i havnt broke any kickstartgears) that was pretty early.

I've changed the rotor once, aprox after 65 hours, same problem as you have. It seams like it's a common issue. I will try to use z155 ingnition with the daytona cdi later.

and I've changed the gearbox after 70h, the tooth on the third gear was worn.

Other than that i have just done normal maintainence, 3 piston changes, changed the camchain after 70h, oilfilter and oil etc..

Just an Idea
Never had a YX outer rotor break its flywheel
Also
TRC CDI retards the ignition at low RPM to reduce kickback

I Put on the YX Stator, flywheel, and wiring harness, ran great at Summit, took home a third durning friday nights main. Im going to buy the EZ Start CDI and see if that helps a bit with kick back because every once in a while it will still kick back even bringing it to TDCC.

YX clutch gear that I put on the Daytona basket after breaking the Daytona gear. The YX doesn't even register on the Rockwell scale. This YX gear broke during operation not staring. The original Daytona Gear I tested and it had a Rockwell hardness of 12 which is pretty low. I tested a clutch gear from a 250f to compare and it had a Rockwell hardness of 56.

Original stator from the engine I bought new. Bolt that holds the stator in vibrated out, flywheel hit the bolt and broke the pickup mount. Never had the stator apart, should have been lock-tighted from factory. I got the stator welded up and ran the engine for another 10 hours before the stator burned out. I have over ten hours on the replacement stator.
