My Pitster Mini Monster 125 Honda ZB50 / Monkey R clone

I got a good deal on it!

yep

Did you buy it in northern CA?
yep

The bike wouldn't idle and was hard to start. I cleaned the jets and it still runs horrible
I just ordered a Klx 110 carb. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to tune the carb on this. The tank has to be off in order to get to the carb so adjusting the air fuel screw while running the engine is nearly impossible. I think I need to make some kind of remote fuel tank system.

I know what a PIA this is. My solution is to replace the fuel hoses and get another 3 plus inches of hose. You take the back gas tank bolt out of the tank and swing it off to the side. You can always rest the tank on something or have someone hold it while you work on the carb.

Yeah, I used a bristle from a wire brush to clear out the main and pilot then I blew it out with 140psi

I live in Pleasanton, if you are near by you can bring it over and I'll help you get it running.
Thanks! hopefully i can get it running better temporarily until the new carb comes in

What's the sprocket setup on it?
This bike has 10" tires right?
Can you let us know the top speed you are getting on it?
What ya pay for it?
It's got ten inch wheels and stock gearing. I've had it up to 55mph! I paid $700 for it.

I swapped out the stock carburetor temporarily with a molkt 26mm with stock jetting with the needle dropped one clip from the top.

I removed the EGR and plugged up the EGR port on the head. Theres a catalytic converter in the head pipe that is restricting my top speed, the diameter of the exhaust tip is also restricting the engine rpms.

No problem on the tooth count, whenever u have time.
Mine has a cat also but I bought a mini gunz exhaust and it now goes about 5-10mph faster on the top end.
The stock exhaust is very restrictive on the top end.
I wonder if the carb helped you though? With aftermarket exhaust I bet it will.
what exhaust did you buy?

It looks like your pipe will have good back pressure for low/ mid rpm torque and its large enough to breath at top speed. Hopefully my exhaust is the same:cool: It might be a little too restrictive when I swap in the Lifan 150 though.

I checked out the gearing just now, 15t countershaft and 32t rear sprocket.

can the 140 maintain 8000 rpms for a couple hours? I'm sure its not good for the skyteam 125, but sunday I had it pegged for over over an hour at 7500 rpm and it was vibrating real bad. I'm thinking my lifan 150 would puke the con rod or pin after 30 minutes at 7500rpm

I'm looking to buy inexpensive rearsets. Does anybody have any reccomendations? I searched and all the ones I found were several hundred bucks.

Also, I've seen a couple kickstarter on different builds that had a lot of offset. I've looked around to try to find those kickers and can't find anything for the small 13mm or 14mm kicker shafts

I found cheap rearsets on Ebay, but they're for disc brakes Monkey Bike Z50 Jingcheng M50 Billet Rearsets Footrest Backstep Rear Disc Brake | eBay

your best bet is to get a slightly damaged set off ebay or the like. I got a pair of satos from a buddy of mine cheap. I had to straighten out a bracket, but they are going to work just fine.
you can use almost any stock or aftermarket rearsets, as long as you dont mind drilling some mounting holes where you need them.

I had a GPX 125 in my ZB and used a YSR50 kicker. Worked great Check link. I later on bought a Takegawa kicker.

I just picked up these rearsets in the past couple months. If you like the look I can dig through where I got 'em - may be the same set you have in the pic you posted. Let me know if I can help. Thanx

I would be interested in buying the rearsets if they're still available

are they for drum or disc brakes?

Can you post a link to the site that has the rearsets for drum brakes? Thanks!
also be aware that a pipe and rearsets will most likely render the kickstarter unusable:

I ordered this kick starter from vince @ tbolt https://tboltusa.com/store/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=WHS-2606&x=0&y=0

I got my new exhaust!

Hey mr nuts.... Haha...
That exhaust looks pretty good.
Its all chrome plated?
What is the inner diameter on the header & can?
Would it fit a z50 bike?

This pipe is worth every dollar!

it should fit anything with a honda head.
and Its massive! straight through designand it comes with an optional baffle. It's stainless:icon_cool:

The sound is amazing, surprizingly not too loud. The optional baffle makes it sound like stock exhaust, which is nice for cruising downtown.

I turned the new rear shock bushings in the lathe to accept the larger 8mm bolts and I think it will be perfect for what I want to do with the bike.

I checked out the gearing just now, 15t countershaft and 32t rear sprocket. I have some spare countershaft sprockets in the 16t 17t and 18t flavors. I'll have to try the larger countershaft sprockets once I get the exhaust and dial in the jetting

Thanks!
I'm still looking for rearsets and I plan on getting some longer travel inverted forks and dual sport tires. What are my choices?

I installed a lifan big valve head today, it lowered the compression and overall makes less torque but spins higher rpms. I was able to hit 65mph though. Tomorrow I'll swap the matching piston from the donor motor.

A word of advice to anybody looking to try a mountain bike rear shock. DON'T DO IT! I bought a DNM 220mm rear shock that worked great and made the bike handle like a dream, right until the shock shaft snapped. Luckily I was on a striaght away, I had just ridden 15 miles of winding mountain roads.

I called up Works today and ordered a new rear shock. It looks like I'll be running the stock POS shock for about 3 weeks
