Just picked up a "needs a bit of work" '64 Honda C100 scooter. Doesn't really seem to be too much I can use on it besides the frame so I'm going to go full custom on this badboy. During some late night internetting I found some pretty cool custom Cubs and got my mind spinning.

Anyone else on here get crazy and build one of these?

I'll get some pics up when the sun comes up.

Soooo, 4 years later and I finally got around to doing something with this vintage scooter. Got anXR80 front end bolted on (need bearings), a Chinese 50cc bolted in for mock up (had to grind a bit of frame to get a newer style engine in there. Some cruiser bars on there for now, really looking for some beach cruiser style bars. Gonna build a solo seat from scratch, suicide shift and a 125 semi auto then powdercoat everything. Hopefully doesn't take another 4 years to post an update!

Finally got a chance today to tear the "bike" down to start the rebuild, I had to notch and cut the frame a bit to fit the newer OHC engines. Right meow I have a Lifan electric start 50cc in for mock up but planning on a 4 speed 125 semi auto.

I had to add some spacers so the newer engines will fit, guess the older push rod 50's had wider mounts.

After stripping the paint I noticed these spot weld marks that I'll have to fill and smooth out before powdercoat

Might be able to get it coated by the weekend, I'll post some pics if I can find time to do it.

Any ideas for seats? I'm thinking of going for like a solo seat, but all the chopper/bobber seats I see look like they'd kill your ass, but then all the cub specific seats I see are too thick and might look goofy.

If you've got welding and fabricating skills you could add a top tube to the frame and use a standard seat and tank from another bike
Here's some examples:

I'm positive that this one was a rally kit that was sold by Honda to give the bike that look. A couple years ago at the Barber Vintage Days, a guy had two new-old-stock kits for sale that I was tempted to buy just in case I ever happened to get one of these.

Would love to, but gotta keep it "step though" for insurance purposes. If I put in an extra top tube it qualifies as a Motorcycle and up here we pay ridiculous insurance rates for motorcycles, minimum $1000 for the year which is only a 7 month riding season. Step though scooters go for 2-300 for the year.

Heavy jockey shifters don't work to well on these motors. They tend to shift on their own when you least expect it. Here's a video my buddy shot of me riding my "ghetto chopper with a bolt lock cutter jockey shift handle. Its a manual shift motor without a clutch lever or any brakes:alcoholic:
