did you try using an Impact Driver to get the cover bolts loose??

we had to take my cover off to get my oil pump on properly-you need to take it off to drill the hole, if my memory serves me correctly...

when instaling a high flow oil pump is there any way to install it without removing the clutch i've heard of people doing it without but we cannot seem to get the cover off.



by the way the motor is torn down i'm installing a bbr 82 kit so thats not an issue thank you

 

Exactly. You have to drill the holes bigger to get the new oil pup fit.

 

you will need to remove the clutch AND the top end. you will also be required to remove the lower left cylinder stud bolt too.



i dont know who told you that you can change it without taking the clutch off, but they must be on some good stuff to think that.

thats what i thought i wasn't sure the lower stud is removed i just don't have a clutch tool on hand to get it off. i'll try and get one tonight

we have the clutch nut sockets IN STOCK if you need one.



or you can take a screwdriver and hammer it off........but i recommend getting one for the reason of putting it back on and being able to properly torque it down to specs.

 

yea the hammer and screw driver trick works. I know people say it can cause problems but i have never had a problem doing it.

 

Doing the hammer and screw driver trick on a 88 is okay, but when you move up to a stroker motor you better have that nut tightened down properly, or yes the clutch will explode.

 

i'll give it a try i can get a tool but not for a few days a buddy of mine has one is it ok to drill out the hole while i have the motor taken apart and put the pump on later

if you get a impact screwdriver..turn it the way you want to loosen works wayyyy better.. i always have a problem of always trying to make the impact do the work
