Kawie has been selling the Z125 in markets afar for the last several years, but it looks like 2017 is going to be the year that it comes stateside to do battle with the wildly successful Honda Grom. We were able to get ahold of some dealer-only images and it looks like March 4th is the date for the announcement.
It is not the norm for manufacturers to announce pricing at this time, but Kawie decided to. At $2,999, and 125cc's of displacement, the K125 PRO is set to hit the Grom square in the face. The styling has not changed much from the Malaysian offering, but it is new to US buyers nonetheless.
It looks to be about the same proportions as the Grom and early claims postulated that the Z125 would weigh in at around 222. That number swelled to 224.8 pounds (speculating) after the addition of the California equipment. The Grom comes in at 225. I could see that carb equipment weighing that extra 3 pounds for sure.
The Candy Lime Green (lovingly referred to as Kawie Green) and Metallic Graphite Gray Z125 Pros looks to be rolling on a familiar 12-inch wheel and the pictures are bad, but I imagine that we will see a 100/90-12 up front and a 120/970-12 out back. These are a little more narrow than the Grom, so the handling might feel a little lighter than that of the Grom.
