ok so after i got my wiring problem all dialed in me and my brother were road my 50 for like a hour with no problems. but when i was on the way back fro riding spot i started to hear chattering coming from the right side of the engine(appears to be the cam/timing chain) and when it does it causes the engine to break up and sputter at high rpms. now ive had this bike for over a year now and never really had any problems, but ive never once heard it hit the rev limiter??? i use it(the bike) for stunting so i ride the gears out pretty far, but still no limiter. i changed the oil in it yesterday hoping that it would solve my problems but of course it didnt lol. my question is: do you think that mre over reving the bike for so long i could have stretched out the cam chain causing it to jump timimg? and could that cause the bike to sputter and what not at high rpms? and also what should i go about to fix it? thanks guys.

common mistake in thinking these bike have rev limiters built into them, they dont dont feel dumb i thought so too ;)

-check your cam timing that should tell you if the chain stretched or not

-adjust your valve lash

-clean the carb

-clean the air filter

-tighten your chain
lol... thanks man, how i dont feel as dumb at least. how do i go about checking the timing and adjusting the valve lash? is it hard to do?

take a look on www.BBRMotorsports.com they have a video on how to adjust the valve lash, as for the cam timing take off the ignition cover and cam chain cover on the head

now theres a mark on the igniton rotor that should line up with the notch on the case at the top (going off memory here) this should be top dead center you can pull the spart plug to double check this, once you have the piston at tdc your cam sprocket should have a dimple on it that should line up with the notch on the head

im sure theres a video on youtube on how to do this also if you get lost in my babble

check ur air filter!!! my motor was breaking up at high rpms and i f ed with the carb forever, even had a local guy mess with it, he said i needed a diff sized jet. bs, i pulled the airbox off and it didnt look horrable, wasnt perfect either. i slapped a new filter in there, worked fine. at the same time i sealed the tube going from the carb to the filter housing, so that might have had something to do with it as well. ALWAYS CHECK THE EASIEST STUFF FIRST.
