Hey new guy here! I picked up a 69' yellow\siver z50 that I am in the process of restoring. This obviously will not be a full original restore. Have you guys ever ordered the reproduction gas tanks off of eBay? My oem tank has dents and it would need body work before paint. I would love to powdercoat my tank because I am already powder coating my frame/forks/headlight. They look just like oem, and the seller stated that the oem cap/petcock/badges fit fine, but has anyone actually ordered one??Thanks for any help!

The Z50 K1 tanks that come out of a seller in Florida are very nice. See pictures. Usually around $149. Honda original gas caps fit them. Also the Honda petcocks as well. The others on Fleabay with the locking gas cap are junk. They come with a crappy china petcock as well. Stay away from those.

I did a lot of research a year or two ago on this and wasn't satisfied any of the repro tanks at that time had the badge location correct (others had other issues), essentially the space from the bottom of the badge to the bottom of the tank, and in the end had my original tank bodyworked and repainted (which I preferred anyways) for about the same price as a new repro tank.

I have more than one mini and so the tanks need to be identical or it would stand out when parked side by side, so I was more particular for that reason. Plenty of people here were satisfied with repro tanks they had purchased, as long as you got a decent one, there are some stinkers out there for sure.

That tank RAZZO showed looks great!

To me that tank looks a little funky where the badge mounts...Like the tank is pushed in with a press to make a dent for the badge to sit in. Not a crisp stamped recess like the original. Front seam is noticable too. Not a bad looking tank tho, and the cap looks better on there than others I've seen.

I have a hondasvintage tank from EBay...the guy in Florida. The neck is too high, the rear mount is too short and the sheet metal needs some work. On the up side, it is a solid heavy tank and fits well. Good for a resto-mod Save some money and get the unpainted item $56 USD and do a little body work. Here is my K2 with the hondasvintage tank...notice how high the gas cap sits.

I also recently got one of these repro tanks from hondasvintage in FL. I am having a hell of a time finding a fitting or petcock that fits the tank. The threads on the tank are slightly larger than the stock petcock. Anyone else run into this, and if so any info on the correct fitting/petcock/adapter for the tank would be much appreciated.
