I saw this discussion over on Thumpertalk and thought it was an interesting topic. Much more so than is a CRF150R faster than 250Fs in the straight aways (hahahaha)

So same rider both bikes which is faster on a small tight track or large wide open MX track?

I think a beginner/Intermediate kids or adult would be faster on the CRF150 than the modded supermini, but an expert rider how could ride on the pipe would be fast on the 2-Stroke if he/she could ride on the pipe. On a small track the 2-Stroke advantage might be even less.

Thoughts and opinions . . .

I own both and I say the 2 smoke has the upper hand in either mix mainly due to the fact that the 150R is only fast with a matching youth rider (what the bike was designed for) with a 165+ # rider it is gutless on the bottom and just as effort involved as the 2 smoke in regards to shifting and riding in the peak of the powerband for both motors. Since my cr has a 6 speed trans and loads of top end power I feel I am much faster on it then the 150r regardless of track size (probably why I ditched the sh!tty 150 mill and dropped in a crf250R).

250R motor in a 150R frame :yikes: Very cool. Do you have any pics? That thing must just rip

A little off topic LasVegas, but I've considered replacing my pitbike with a CRF150r or KX100 (or 85). I ride 99% of the time on backyard tracks so I'm thinking the torque of the four stroke would be an advantage. I love the way the 140cc engine in my Pitster runs but I just want a slightly larger bike. I'm old, slow and lazy so I'm thinking a CRF will be easier/better.
