Just wanted to start a little discussion about Bigger & Higher Quality carbs

since the engines and builds are getting bigger

We have has just great luck with mikuni vm26 606 style on quite a few sizes of motors

also oko 26 round slide too (but oko 26 round slide is now in limited quantity)

recently guys have been getting Mikuni TM 28 flat slide

this is a 4 stroke design carb that can work very well on the bigger 150 and up motors

if you have experience with these please comment

(we pay a good bit less for TM28 than PWK

another carb is PWK 28mm

this is actually designed for 2 strokes but has been getting used on these pit bikes

with jjj or jjh needle

we have access to an exact Taiwan unit oko 28mm too

(not in stock for a few weeks but alot better price )

I'm currently running a PWK 28 on my YX184, ported V2 w/ S35, FMF 4.1. This carb was a vast improvement over the VM26-606 I was running. Throttle response is instant and much more crisp.

FYI I've had my genuine PWK torn apart side by side with a Tawain copy and internally there is absolutely no difference, externally the finish and casting isn't quite as nice....so Vince if you can bring the copy to the market at a reasonable price I'd say go for it

thanks man great input !!

the OKO units will be availible in a few weeks in 28mm and 30mm (bored 28mm)

i have had some really good feed back on tm28 as well and this carb has a much lower cost point than pwk28

not wanting to get into a big debate on this but

we have info from the importer of the kiehin carbs and actually oko is the parent company

just if its manufactured in japan it says kiehin and in Taiwan its an oko

Really good info! I would like to see someone tear down some of these carbs we're talking about and show exactly what differences there are (in pic form so everyone could see). I'm sure some is marketing and fluff, it would be an interesting thread.

well i have PWK 28 in stock now and as soon as the oko 28mm (PWK type) is in hand we will do a side by side comparison

we will also be outfitting the oko with jjh needle that works with 4strokes

i got the pwk28 on my 143 4 valve ported and polished... things runs super nice with it.. the only problem i ever ran into with it, that was bugging the heck out of me, was the spring that comes in the pwk was waaaaay to soft, and i found out you have to replace it with a stock klx 110 carb slider spring.. its a tad longer and stiffer, works like a charm now... i love the vm26's on any 50 style engine tho..

i'd like to try a tm28 tho just to see if there is a difference

Maybe because you already offered to sell something 5 posts above the one I quoted? I've never seen a thread started by a vendor that hasn't turned into an "I'll sell you one!" thread. Hell even the "which should I get threads" started by the site members turn into vendor whore wars. You guys get away with murder on this site so I wouldn't be complaining...

were working with tm28 right now , its a flat slide 4 stroke carb with a decent price and works well with bigger motors

the discussion on pumper carbs is interesting ....
