How much you know about the cams? I ve had tb, drtv s stuff z28, crower g2...never the takagawa or kitaco stuff though..I need a nasty mid/top cam for my lifan head. Im looking at a z40, never had one.

just to let you guys know the tb cam DOES NOT have 6.99mm lift it has 6.78 and the z 40 has 6.70. i have a desk full of cams and have degreed and micd everyone. i was not barking at you Mark you are a cool cat. i will say for the money the TB is by farrrrrrrrr the best for the money.

Dude its no problem, I think we should all discuss the details more, as the Lifan head is starting to show up more and more as people are asking for it on builds. Compare cost vs. performance, but performance per riding style, motard vs. dirt, etc.

Only to a certain extent. Do you know the number one mistake when selecting camshafts for performance engines? Over duration. Don't get me wrong... duration helps top end. That doesn't mean low duration will kill top end though. We both know it's all in the application.

i agree bud, since i am road racing my application is totally different than you dirt guys. hey again congrats on the kitaco engine build.

Thanks. And I'm thinking I'll wait for my new cam to get here before I put it back together (incredible lift AND duration). Maybe I can put something together that would work on the cement. :D

I'm going to start redoing the cam table to try and clean it up a bit, as well as listing whom's providing cam specs. (Time to give Cyclerider more credit.) Are there any other numbers I should be listing? I know from looking at Ducati cams in addition to lift and duration you can usually get valve acceleration numbers and graphs of cam profiles. I dbout we'll ever get that fancy, but I can include room for that info if people think it's worth while?

I did the measuring for the TB cams for his website. I'm working on measuring a couple 110 cams as we speak. Just to let you know, the specs advertised on Crowers web site for his GPX G2 cam are false, not even close.(I find it very unusual he lists the same specs for many of his cams)I'd like to check more of them. Kurlon if your interested I can send over what specs I have.

And the super long duration cams can definately kill your lower end power. Maybe ok for roadracing but not in the tight stuff.

Yea the high long duration cams are great for dyno runs or drag racing but not for any type of get out of the corner racing.....Motard/dirt...in my eyes..

Alot of these guys roadrace and call it motard racing.....so the Z40 and similiar cams work fine but in a real slow corner situation smaller is better.....

I have a +R head and have tried the 35,20,12 cams from takegawa and my bike runs the best for MX with the 12 cam...which makes the least HP on the dyno....but gets me out of the corner or off the holeshot a hell of a lot faster than the dyno king 35 cam with more lift and duration....

I proved it by gtting the holeshot over alot of different 124 Takegawa kits and SE kits and even a dual overhead cam 124....My +R is on a 54 x 52 setup (119cc) with the short cylinder(63mm) with a short intake 24mm carb and big bore(which is one of the smallest and not stepped) FMF pipe...The head is ported to the gills by RKMotorsports and with the small carb, cam, pipe this engine really rips.....Oh yea Hackmunches 146 with akunar HCP, Z40 cam was on the line also.....

Bigger is not always better....at least not everything being bigger..= velocity

Your holding on to this holeshot like a 5 year old girl on christmas when she gets her first barbie doll. Holeshots dont prove a whole lot other then you have a little hp and you let go of the clutch first. let it go
