So a few of the Bay Area guys met up today to hang out and work on our projects. We got to hear both Drizz's NICE motor and Over GP pipe for the first time, along with Paunchy's 124+R and Mizumoto. Virgin run in for Paunchys motor. We didn't make it out for a ride but I think maybe next time we will.

Here is gstegman CT, he also bought out his ZB but i didnt get a pic of that. Hopefully others will drop in some of their pictures as most of mine didnt come out.

Very nice bikes! A question though, forgive my ignorance, and maybe it's just me. Why do the mufflers look like they are half the size of the bike? They seem way out of proportion to me?

If you see the bikes in person, the exhausts are in proportion. Also keep in mind the vintage JDM crowd is not constrained by design and doesn't have to worry about tucking in an exhaust to prevent damage or burns.

The CRF exhausts for the most part do not flow very well and were designed more for functionality then all out performance. Some may disagree with me, but I doubt very many dirt pitbike exhausts will perform as good as the above Yoshimura, Mizumoto or Over Racing respectively as each are designed for large displacement engines and would not peform well on an 88cc kit.

Getting to hear these things run both with and without baffles makes me think I will be very happy with my pipe in a few short weeks. To me there is a certain look I can't put my finger on for both the wheels and pipes that just make them look killer.

Jay, thanks again for hosting...

I was also very impressed with Brad and Dave's carbon fiber black magic. That James Bond filler on the Z50 tank it too cool for school.

Dave gets the hard core mini fan award for cramming his bike into the back seat of a very nice Benz!

Dave,

Just be forewarned that once you bore up and potentially stroke that Nice engine of yours, your bike is going to be exponentially louder...

Z - Thanks for the note. It was pretty mild-mannered, even uncorked. It should sound perfect one the motor is done.

gstegman does have a few vids of both bike starting up. Maybe he'll youtube them or something.

Everyone gets a giggle out of this. Here's the monkey in the Benz. It fit a LOT better when it was in stock trim. Yesterday's shenanigans results in a torn seat and a nice gas spill all over the car... (sigh) You gotta pay to play... :p

Ridiculous! I was on a business trip in Manhattan, KS 5 years ago and a friend called me and wanted me to pick up a QA50 he just purchased. I stuffed it in the back of my wife's car and will never do that again.. Took me 3 months to get the gas smell out of the car.

You are one dedicated Monkeybiker..

Whats nice about the monkey's and ape's is that you can put them on a cargo carrier on the back with a small sedan size hitch. I run my wagon with the ape out back. Dave you may want to look into a hitch for the benzo and pick up one of the 50 dollar cargo carriers from Harbor Freight. Probably less costly than fixing the interior and never smells like gas....
