Anyone know exactly what color of red is on a '84 z50 and where I can get ahold of it?

id say somewhere around red
yeah, that's kinda what I was thinkin...but figured I better ask!

Plans aren't for a full restore, just want to make everything look fresh for something just to mob around. It's kind of a family "transportation" bike. I've been to the color-rite site, but I don't know where to go from there.

any input appreciated! if I find anything out I'll be sure to post.

I agree loggfro, when I tore it down there were spots that seemed almost hunter orange.

MOTO-Xer........i used Chevy orange the first time on my 81'z50 resto...but it was toooo orange for me...i'm now using Ford Red....DO NOT base your choice on the color of the "cap" on the paint...that chev orange cap was almost a 'perfect' match, until you painted something...whereas...the Ford Red cap isn't even close to matching...but...after painting it...it looks great

Honda used the Tahitian Red color from '77 through '81, when the Blaze Red was introduced. The Blaze Red was used through '89, with the '88 and '89 models also having the Shasta White.

The seat has a blue cover with the displacement number on the sides of the seat.

Actually, the only years the number 50 appeared on the seat itself was in '82, and '91 thru '97

Just got an email from a guy-

"The color from Honda you are looking for is Blaze Red. I'm in the process of restoring some old hondas and have found a near perfect match for the 1984 Z50. Any automotive refinisher using Dupont products should be able to make this paint for you. Dupont stock code RS673 matches very, very well. I'm an automotive refinisher and have been painting cars full time for over 20 years and am very particular about paint matches. This color from Dupont more than satisfies me. I'm using the ChromaPremier line from dupont and RS673 matches very well in both base/clear and single stage finishes(no clear). Provided your not looking for OEM NOS paint this should work for you. These products provide superior gloss to the original paint. If you think it looks a little too orange on the stick red/orange paint tends to deepen up slightly as it cures, don't ask me why, but it does. Try polishing up a small piece of the original paint that hasn't been exposed( like under the seat or gas tank) for a comparison. Hope this helps"

u dont have to use dupont if u want to save money, a quart of dupont chromabase and the reducer will set u back almost a 100 bucks, polish up the tank and take it to any auto paint jobber, and they can color match it for you.
