No the gentleman doing the powder-coating didn't do the inside of the hub or where the bearing sits.
I made sure to clean the surface well and the bearings slid right in! :)

All my parts were ordered at CHP ; I was satisfied with the service and quick shipping.

Hey Guys! Haven't updated this in a while!

This evening I just finalized putting the wheels back on (properly...lol) and setting the brakes.
Once that is complete I'll post a quick picture.

Still need to workout my carburator issue (I went with the rebuild kit since it only has 1500 miles).
My other problem has to do with wiring.

Everything works except my headlight and the lights in my speedometer. I'll work on that once my carb is rebuilt.

Unfortunately all this will take a while because I'm quite busy in the moment.
Oh well, the bike will still be there later this winter! :)

Hey everyone,

I sorted out the carburator and went for a short drive yesterday.
Couldn't stop laughing, 40km/h feels like 100km/h on this thing!

Here's few pics. I still need to order a seat and fix the wiring (headlight doesn't work)

Someday I'll polish the brake covers; I put them together to make more room in the shed.

Looking good! Are you sure the headlight isn't simply burnt out? On my bike, every single bulb was burnt out. Replaced them all, and everything works. Neutral light and tail/brake light should turn on while bike isn't running. High beam indicator and headlight will only work will the bike is running. Maybe you knew this already, but I know I didn't at first!

I think the 88cc kit would be worth it, especially if you were planning on freshening up the motor anyway. I think most people will tell you to go with a race head if you go this route, though.

Not sure on compression, but I'd almost guarantee that if you bought an 88cc race head kit, complete, you'd still be able to run premium pump gas and be fine. The race head breathes better and unlocks more oomph vs. a stock head.

Do you have any experience with the Piranha 140cc?
I'm not sure if I would prefer to keep the stock engine on the side; It's kind of sad to modify a low millage stock engine...

Anyways, that will certainly be for later.
I'll start enjoying it with the stock engine before making more changes.

No personal experience with the Piranha, but similar YX 125/140 motors (GPX, KRP, etc). Several of us ran them in pitbikes, and personally, I'm done with chinese stuff. Racing indoor supermoto last year, I had a crank snap in half, part of the case half bust out, and several other issues. Motor was fast when it held together, but the guys with built Hondas never had issues like me (and no, it's not due to poor maintenance practices!).

If you prefer to leave the stock engine alone and mothball it, I think that if you look hard enough you could find another Honda mill and build it up for a reasonable price. I've seen tired motors in need of rebuilds for under $100. Since you'd be throwing a larger jug/slug at it anyway, something like that would be a good starting point. I've heard good things about an 88 kit with racehead and possibly a larger carb. Depends how much power/fast you want to go though. Dollar per horsepower, a Piranha or something similar is the cheapest option, although not as reliable.

I use piranha 140 in my ct 70
so far so good its a nice engine
no problems with it at all yet I think 1200 or more miles on it so far

not sure what mpg I got with the lifan 125 my bike came with but with the 140 I can go 35 miles on the tank before its super low
wish I would of checked with the 125 but I didnt

low mpg is what keeps me from riding it too far

Yeah,

My main issue with the stock engine is the semi-automatic transmission.
I'll wait a while, drive it around and see if I get used to it.

This week I should be able to take off the twist throttle assembly and
see if it needs to be replaced, or simply lubed.

Once that is sorted out I'll be able to order the seat and a few more parts.
Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

Continuing on my project now that it's a better temperature in the shed!
I started polishing the front drum cover, not really sure what I've gotten myself into (first time polishing) but I guess that's how you learn stuff

How do I know if my throttle cable is the long or short version?

I put most of my parts on:

Things to do:
- Fix high beam indicator light in speedometer
- Paint Engine Cases
- Finish front hub (install wheel properly)
- Install new wire cover (non-shrink)
- Install mirrors

These are universal mirrors I purchased. I really like the size and look, but the stem is bigger than the screw holding the levers. Should I just drill them bigger? or is there a better way of mounting them?
