ya whos fault was it ? lol no nothing broke and everything was on tight and if u read i use oil filter and its spray on maxima or w.e

I've never really liked that spray on stuff, I like to run the stuff that you have to rub into the foam. It seems to work the best for me (on my pancake style filter that's completely exposed).

thats garbage dude, ppl praise bbr ive been looking into a few things. the chinese bike vendors are the only ones who get thier parts made in china...
KOBY,, you mean the chinese bike vendors ARENT the only ones who get stuff made in china?? believe it or not people,,,, alot of stuff is made in china these days,, thats honest talk

Belray filter oil and a pancake filter with an outerwear and never spec of dirt in my carb. I don't like any type of filter system where there is a slip joint like where the rubber boots rotate in the u-flow or like on the tb air filters that you can swivel.Anywhere there is a joint like that they need to be siliconed to keep the dirt out.

You probably don't want to hear it, but I guess it's your fault. A filter, if it's the stock, pancake or U-Flow design is only as good as the care you take of it. If the clamps are tightened, the boot isn't ripped and the filter itself properly oiled, everything should be OK. An Outerwearz Filter is just extra protection.

I have experienced a similar thing, but I know the reason. I used the stock airbox, drilled to the max. I rode for weeks with neither cleaning, nor re-oiling it. It was a hot dusty summer. Of course I had dirt sucked through, way more than your pictures show. I learned two things:

1. The KLX engine design is bulletproof.

2. I'll take care of my oirfilter.

I also run a pantyhose over the modded airbox. My filter lasts at least 3 times as long now.

Just like imported your not gonna want to here this.

I really dont see an issue with the U Flow itself, Do you have a picture of the air filter? Right after riding? Flat out, if everything was tight and that much dust got through it The filter is to blame not the U flow, it doesnt even look like your filter had any oil on it. The U flow has nothing to do with stopping dirt from getting inside of it Besides facing the filter the opposite way. I would think if you were running the same filter without the U flow you bike most likely wouldnt be running right now, because clearly there wasnt enough oil.

Here in the north east we have a MX track that is all river silt, so it gets ridiculously dusty, AKA moon dust, point being with a properly oiled filter there isnt a spec of dirt on the inside of my carb, does my filter have a inch of dust caked on it yes, but the carb is still spotless.

once again i clean and oil the filter after EVERY ride , so the filter was spotless for all u guys saying o the filter prob was neglected. NO it was clean and all the clamps were tight, the only possible way it could get in is thru the filter but i oil the hell out of it wit the maxima spray on.

the track was actually really nice , no mud but there was one spot that was powder and it must of found a way in somehow

Yea it looks like it was a fine powder of dirt in the pic thats in that carb... If there was some fine powder dirt at the track he was rideing in than thats where it came from.. It got past the filter..

let me check over the u flow again real good , but i may keep it on because i barely ride this bike anymore because i got a new one

Back in like '99 at the Unadilla national, I remember a couple of the ProCircuit bikes and a few others blowing up in the span of a 30 minute moto from sucking dirt through a professionally prepared filter. I had a kid I wrenched for blow up a brand new 85 in a 30 minute practice moto with a freshly oiled, brand new filter. Even if everything is done perfectly, there's still the chance for dirt to make it through a filter when conditions are right.

So even though Outerwares says they may restrict airflow by up to 10% thats a whole lot better than blowing a motor... I wouldn't run one in a race if the track was just right. I see Gary and some of the other guys pull the red dual stage part of their uni filters off, must be when conditions are perfect.

What ever happened with this, Im about to buy a U flow for my klx..

Ive never had anyone recommend spray on oil for a dirt bike filter due to the fact it doesnt evenly distribute on the filter and leaves
what is called a hurricane effect when it sucks air, rather than sucking consistently it finds the spots were oil is lightest or non exsistent
Maybe it was the oil
