Z50R - Need new rear wheel...

Hey guys!

I just picked up a Z50R for my son. I plan on getting a CT70 for myself so we can go riding together. What a fun little ride!!!

After doing a little riding today, I realized the rear wheel was bent and has a little wobble to it... I've been looking around for over an hour and can't seem to find a replacement.

Where's the best go-to place to get parts for this little beast?

Check it out... Definitely could use a little clean-up though!!

Look forward to hangin' out!

The best place for a replacement is on eBay, but be aware that there are two different sized hubs for the Z50. The round-hole wheels have a bigger hub, and the slotted wheels like yours have a smaller diameter brake hub.

Also, remove the rear wheel from the bike, and make sure that one of the hub mounting bolts isn't sheared off, or loose. Sometimes, that causes the wheel to wobble, as does worn rear wheel bearings.

You can tell the type of wheel by the number of bolts for the hub. Late model = three hole, early = four hole. The E-bay ones are for early, but with the included hubs it might not be a problem.

I believe the later hubs may still be available. Check with Honda, or with Bike Bandit. Bike Bandit shows them on its site for the z50r's in the 90's which would be the same wheel, except they may be white.

If you don't mind ging with the incorrect wheel, you can use the old wheels with the round holes. You have to use these wheels with the hub. The hubs are not interchangable. Once in a while there is an auction on eBay for the correct wheel. If you want the wheels fast, go to this site. Click on OEM Parts Online. Then, click the year, make, and model of the bike. There should be a list on the right sde of the page now. Click rear wheel. There you go.

Thanks for all the responses guys.... After sending an email to the seller, this was his response - "The wheel is a two-piece split design, just take the four bolts out and the pieces come apart to remove the tire. When I replaced the rear tire a couple years ago, I think I simply didn’t torque the wheel bolts evenly or line it up really well, so it doesn’t spin true. It wasn’t a big deal when the kids were small, since they weren’t going that fast."

I'm gonna pull it apart tonight and check the alignment before I buy a new one - I can't believe how much BikeBandit wants for it - almost $63 + shipping.

Again, I appreciate the reponses and will report back what I find!

dirtbkr188 was right... I took the rear wheel off and found that one of the 3 bolts that hold the hub to the wheel was loose. Looks like the PO stripped the hole. I found a new bolt that was a little longer that caught more of the threads... Problem 90% fixed! It still has a very minor wobble - I guess the damage has already been done. Still on the lookout for a replacement - gonna call the dealer tomorrow.
