Hey Guys ,

Does anybody know if there is aftermarket tank which fit a z50a k1 ?

I didn't find one so far , just used OEM tank.

Thanks !

(jumping in on this thread) "Trail Buddy" seems to just have that one tank at the link your provided, and it's a defect tank. I couldn't find any stock of good tanks there (or anywhere else for that matter), but thanks for the link, I didn't know about Trail buddy before.

I have seen on CHP etc. that there have been repro tanks offered in the past but all are sold out/discontinued. I don't understand why these aren't re-released, the demand would have to be high I would imagine??

I have a decent tank on mine but would prefer a repro new tank over bodyworking my original, but I can't find one either, just crappy overpriced used ebay junk. Any other sources for new tanks that are close or exact replicas of originals?

Wow that's the first available tank supply I have seen! Price is decent too. They claim it to be an exact replica of the Z50 tank, but look how low the depression circle is for the tank emblem, that's WAY lower than factory Honda is:

The replica tank depression looks to be maybe 1/4 inch above the bottom seam, where the factory depression is over 3/4 on mine. It also looks like it has a different shape to the front of the tank, but that could just be the picture angles too I suppose.

Has anyone here purchased this tank, and if so, how accurate is it really? And are there any surprises under the paint?

Thanks for the feedback, that helps! My tank is definately worth saving, but I'm also a bit of a perfectionist so i'd prefer to start with the best tank I can.

By the way, love the Elvi group, it's what all of us should hope to be some day!

Maybe I'll start an Evel Knievel group on mini's up here!

Anybody else have experiance with this tank?

I picked up a tank from a retailer on ebay last winter. 165.00 plus shipping. The tank comes in bare metal and is dimensionally accurate with the original. the stock petcock and fuel cap fit good. It does requires at bit of tweaking and filler around the bottom edges to make it just right. Overall, I am please with it. I have seen this same retailer just recently on ebay, advertising the same k1 and a k2 tank. If interested, search on ebay Honda z50 petrol tank. Good luck.

The vendor contacted me back and VERIFIED that indeed the tank badge depression is only 1/4 inch above the bottom tank seam as it appears in the pic on their website.

So unfortunately despite their claim it is an "exact replica" to the factory tank, it is not.

That sucks too, because they have them in stock and at a good price, I was all set to order one, but the tank badges being so low would really look goofy I think.
