He said Honda offered him $100,000 and his pick of any new 2009 Honda motorcycle for the pair of Z50RD's.

Real nice collection though!

of all the exotic bikes in Hondas collection,I'm sure they missing a Z50RD

LOL, I love how the mere sight of, or offhand remark about the Motora always throws at least one person into deep pangs of desire :D

Chinese clone factories, get on this!

Anyways, sweet collection.

It all comes down to what kind of person you are. I am a classic car guy. I have a nice collection and all get driven...hard. I was at Thunderbird show with my 57 and a trailer rolls up and unloads a total queen. Even had booties on the tires so they never actually touched the road. The put mega $$ into making it perfect and has never driven it. I can tell you this, he seems very happy with his choice.

Me, I would never be able to do that. The enjoyment for me is using them. Same with watches I collect. I wont buy one to keep in a safe. How boring!

So, to each his own. I can see both side I guess. I just wonder if there is a Honda Z50 nut out there with the pockets (and space) for this collection.

Doubt it. If you are this hobby to get rich, you made a poor choice. We all may want 2 or 3 of that collection, but to lay out that coin for a group of Z50's? Doubt it.

He just likes the attention it brings. Like Z said, strokin the ego.

See, look at the thread on this!

Ego? Corvettes? Makes perfect sense.

Maybe he is self conscious about his height. He does seem a little taller surrounded by so many mini bikes. A strange sort of God complex.

If this guy was for real, he would donate most of them to a museum for everyone to enjoy. Then sell the rest individually to the many interested collectors and make a lot of other people happy.

...and then he could pay off at least part of his meth habit debt.

They do look good all lined up. My motto is, if i can't use it then it's useless.

I think chics really go for this though.Hey baby i'm pretty sure a have the largest collection of honda mini z's in the world. How about we go back to my place so you can verify this.

We have a bidder on the auction @50K.

1. bidder has past history bidding on items from seller.

2. bidder has a past history of retracting bids.

I find this odd unless the current bidder knows the seller. I could be wrong and your opinion may differ.

I compare an auction like this to a car accident in New York. Everyone slows down to see what's going on, but nobody wants to get involved and drives by going about their day.

Cheap entertainment at it's best.

Ok, so lets say you bought this collection. What do you think it is worth if you broke it apart and sold it off? Some of these are just amazing and I know there has to be a willing buyer but with all the experience here, can anyone come up with a value?

The quad I know is amazing and unridden. I doubt there is another one out there like it. I would say someone would buy that for 5k at least. Now, all you 50 nuts, whats the rest worth:)

I think its cool, and he lives 45 minutes away from me apparently.

He may simply be gauging the value of the bikes by putting them out there to the #1 internet buying audience in the world aka eBay, where they will get the most exposure.

Actually, props to him for not completely mangling all those bikes, I have a mint Z50 and my 69 which do not get ridden either, but thats because I beat the crap out of everything else I own with a motor :)

i agree 100%. i drive a 59 cadillac and people think im nuts. The best is when i tow my 59 airstream behind it. people think im crazy. but to me, what did they do in 1959?? they drove their cars and towed their trailers.

bottom line is if i own it, i use it. and i dont think i have enough friends to put all those bikes to use. so i will pass on this bid!!!!:p

I wouldn't want all of those bike unless I had the room to display them properly. Having them all jammed in a basement is just a waste. Someone who wants all of those bikes, and has the money and the space to store them would already own them. This guy just wants to show off his stuff.

I hear ya. I track my classic Mini Cooper and you should see the looks I get. I'll shows up and most think its just on display until I pull er up to the line. I get a lot of amazed looks when I come back in. I think people enjoy the sight.

These bikes for sale, to me at least, would be best on display somewhere. The entire lot laid out in a single line so onlookers can see the progression of one of Hondas most beloved creations.

Think of it, generations can gather and all see the bike they learned how to ride or what started their passion for bikes. Like the Mini Cooper is in the UK, everyone started out on a 50!

You need to add a polished Feather Craft Vagabond to your collection with a Merc 58 or Johnson Javelin hanging off the bank. Feather Crafts and Airstreams go hand in hand..

WOW! thats a nice collection... sounds like the guys gotta be a real "character" (to put in as nice as possible)..

at least its a good way to spend your money.. we all know if we had the cash to waste we would have one of every model and then some..

if he'd throw in the Cub in the background of one of the pics i'd think about bidding (have to sell the house of course)..

Honestly, thats A hell of a price for that lot. If I had all of those they would be with me until I die, and once I died, I'd hope my ashes would be turned into A huge steel Honda Z50 plaque to go with them.
