I am wondering if any one has put the parts off an 80's z50r on a new 90's z50r frame? How much work/ hard is it to do? Thank You.

Here is an old pic of Z50King's '96 Z50R, you can see the bracket that tmas referred to, for mounting the fender/numberplates/seat. I'm not sure if the older Z50R red tank will bolt right up to the newer frame, I never measured the distance.

Which do you have, the '80 and looking for a newer one for the swap, or vise versa?

Of course this may not apply to Honda, but I have 2 Lifan frames. One frame was from a bike that seems to be dead copy of the 88-98 Z50R. (I'm using the seat from a genuine Honda and it fits fine). The other frame I bought bare and is from what I'm assumed to be a "Monkey". My plan was instead of derusting and painting the old frame, I'd just replace it with a new one.

I too thought the frames were identical until I tried to mount the polygonal late style tank on the "Monkey" frame and it didn't fit properly. The tank is too short to engage the front mounting bosses on the frame and bolt down. Every other mount on the two frames seem to be the same. I think this new frame is like the Z50R from 79-87.

Of course, this may be just some Lifan weirdness with their tank mounts but I was surprised that they differed.

I have a 1980 and would like to put the parts on a newer Z50r frame. Hard to find a decent old frame with title. Thanks for the help.

If I recall correctly, the tank and seat mounts are all different. The rear fender mount is different. The exhaust is different. There's an extra tab on the new frames for the 12v ignition coil. The forks, swingarm, motor mounts, brakes, wheels, and bars are all the same from 1980 on. 1979 had wheels and brakes compatible with Z50A's.
