It isn't the original spark plug wire, but other than that, I think I have it all hooked up right.. Not sure why it won't spark..

What's should I check?

Engine has a blue and white, a black and red, and a green coming out of it.

It ran before, it has been sitting for a year or so. I think it is the coil because I changed the spark plug wire, and I think that either I damaged it somehow, or used the wrong kind of wire or cap. I might order a new one, is there a way to test the coil with a test light or multimeter to see if that is it before I buy a new one?

You can test your coil by removing the spark plug, putting it back in the plug cap, and grounding it to the cylinder head. If you see a spark when you kick it over then the coil should be good. Make sure all your ground wires are good too. What year is the motor?

I tested the coil that way, and it wouldn't spark so I suspect the coil is junk. I didn't know if there was a way to test the coil with a multimeter before ordering a new one to be sure that is the cause of the problem.

Thanks for the help. I will order a coil now and see if it works.

did you check to enure the brake cable or tether connections are not loose? i disconnected my connections for the brake lever to be pulled in or the tether to be connected. we used to have issues with those all the time. also if it has been sitting and is a electric start, the batteries are known for going bad by sitting.
