Really depends on what you like and what you plan to do with it.

If you like bottom mid range pull and plan on staying around 160cc the vm26 will probably be best suited for you

If you like upper rpm pull and/or have intentions of going big cc in the future one of the 28s will be best suited

Decomp is short for decompression. Decomps are a mechanical mean of bleeding off compression so that the engine is easier to turn over.

As geezer has already stated decomps are not a must but are a very nice addition. Especially if you have intentions on going really big cc and/or high compression ratio.

I personally own a mikuni 26 mm 606 and a kehin daytona spec pe28. Both are great carbs. The mikuni usually is a little simpler to get jetted correctly. I had the 28 on a engine as small as a 140 and it ran well. I think for what you're doing I would get the mikuni but thTs just me. A decomp is a nice option but not a must

Its a little red push rod that when pushed opens a little "breather" to let some air out for starting. When it fires the rod comes back out to seal. I got mine put on when i bought the head bc i was gonna go bigger later
