I started a thread on this about a month ago, butfor some reason is was closed. so, I'll try again.

It's time to document another conversion. 1998 XR100. 2001 KX85.

Stay tuned to follow the progress.

Rendering of the goal...

KX all stripped down and ready to get cut up.

This is what was removed.

I always start these swaps at the lower, rear motor mount. Actually, it's the skid plate mount/ footpeg mount depending on the year XR you use. In this case, I use the forward two holes. The rear two are removed to get the motor down and back as much as possible. This is the tab/ mount.

Next I make the upper rear motor mount.

I've done quite a few conversions and this one takes the cake for the most difficult. I knew it was gonna be a bogger going into it, but man... everything is just a little bigger pain than any other conversion. Damn perimeter frame. Haha.

So, the next battle was the induction/ intake system.

I didnt want to flip the shock for a few reasons, one being that I want to keep the exhaust on the left side. After trying about 10 different boots, I finally decided on making an aluminum one like on my CR/XR conversions. Heres my take...

Hey Settin'-- Bike looks great! You're the Roland Sands' of conversions! Haha!

I was thinking about this one-- reconfiguring a KLX140 rear frame to accept a KX85 swinger, shock, and linkage. The 140 has alot of good things about it-- one being that a KX85/100 front bolts right up, and a sturdy frame. If you could do something with the 140 frame so that you could bolt up an 85 rear, we'd be in biz. Make it so you'd have it down so we could send you a frame to get modded, then go on Ebay for the rest of the parts. ya could even make some money doing it! --L*64
