Any thoughts on which bike brand would be the most reliable? I will not be doing any racing. It will be for weekend use only.

Who is the best to buy from?

Thanks.

oooo your gonna open up a can of worms on here with that ?????.....just depends on exactly what you want to do or spend....they are all alot alike but in the end you get what you pay for in most instances.....a good combo may be a Medina with a FPM mill in it......IMO the most dependable you will get is not Chinese....if you can, get a used Honda or Kawi (stock mill with maybe suspension and other comfort upgrades) and you will be much better off if you are looking for dependability.......big deal with the Chinese bikes is that they are hit or miss as far as quality is concerned and it does not matter what brand (i do not care who says different)....can you hear the worm can opening ...lol

Best Vendor Curmudeon: Firepowerminis

Most likely to look like a bear on a small pitbike: TBolt

Most likely to have multiple wives: Pitster Pro

Most likely to be a wordsmith: Medina

There are too many differing opinions here on PM to label one bike or brand the best. Too many camps and schools of thought, not to mention too many types of bikes. Each rider has differing needs and has to factor in what they need (and want).

For someone wanting to purchase a new import pitbike, the best way to figure out what is best for you is to find a local vendor who sells bikes and go and talk to them, test ride, or find others who have bikes and testride.

I would also recommend purchasing local if you can so you can get top-knotch customer support when things go wrong. If you don't have a local deal who can support you, then read through the forums and look to see which dealers take care of their customers the best.

I'm not talking about parts that can be shipped here, I'm talking about complete bikes. I'd want something dealer prepped and ready to go as the stories of issues on bikes uncrated by customers is very long.

Lastly, I'm sure you'll be soon mugged by countless vendors contacting you offering you a good deal on a bike. Sift through the information with kid gloves, do your homework and make a decision based upon basic logic.

Well actually all of them are pure crap.....there are no other answer to this...I'm sorry but this is the ugly truth

And the noob drops a big bomb before his 50th post!

Are all import bikes complete crap? no.

Would I personally own one? No.

Are they good for others? Yes

It all depends on what you want to get out of a bike and how much $$ you have to spend on the hobby. Without import bikes, thousands of people wouldn't be involved in the hobby.

Ignorance is bliss, isnt it?

The best Chinese bike is one that is custom built, and has the bugs worked out.

FirePower knows his stuff and has been more than helpful with me. He seems very knowledgeable about the bugs/quirks of these engines, and how to fix them.

Pitster Pro makes a good product, but their customer support sucks. Especially when you have a problem. If you have a problem and they get your phone number, you can expect them to screen your calls and/or emails. I am in the customer-service business, and the communication I personally got from Pitster was some of the worst on the planet. On the positive side, at least they do speak English when they answer the phone. :p

These are just my experiences, maybe yours will be different.

jajajajaja exactly I just talk because of my experience, I know I have not to much posts(and for most people on forums these seems to be a real thing, for me a guy with 10,000 posts is because he doesn't have a life), but I'm not new on this sport I've been on motocross my whole life, and I'm agree with you, on your comment on pitsterpro customer support, last time I try to make and order and after a lot of dancing with these guys, they never answer my request.........but at the end, I don't care, whatever.....

I'm new to this pitbike thing and I just bought a G2MOTO 160. The bike looks really cool and my daughter loves it (it's hers to ride). But, it had some issues, and the overall performance is "ok" for the money. But when I ride it, it feels delicate, and I'm affraid I'm gonna break it. I want to get another pitbike just for myself, but not so sure if there is one that has a "quality" feel to it. Thought about getting a Medina TTR. BBR is way too expensive, I'd be better off getting a CRF150 BIG WHEEL bike for that kind of money.

You are so right dude, I would really recommend you to get the CRF150, BBR is pretty reliable, but as you said is to expensive, for that money you can get a 250F, any brand.......Chinese bikes are good for kids,...they really enjoy them, but they are to fragile for regular size person...they just don't hold.

I have a CRF250. Bought new in 06. My brother has 10 acres and we built a track for his boys, 9 and 12. The 250F is overkill for that track. But it's really fun on a pitbike. We go to the real tracks some times, and then we go to my brother's some times. His boys love to ride with us, they just aren't ready for the big tracks/riding parks. I'm not expecting perfection from the chinese bikes, I get it. You just don't take a Funny Car to the hotdog stand on Friday nights.

My thought from the beginning was to buy a 2010 KLX110 and start by doing the front and rear end (Shiver and BBR w/ elka). I am just having trouble knowing I will probably never see the money I put in it, again. Yes I do it for the enjoyment, but the practical part of me likes to ruin my fun.

What rings true the most is "you get what you pay for". That I understand.

Thank you for all the valuable information.
