The universal brake fits, you just have to re-arrange the plunger. I have one on my bike now, I used a small bolt in place of the plunger, but it works flawlessly and has since March. Give me an hour or so and I will post up a photo.

Yeah I got an asv clutch and brake lever on my bike.

The universal brake lever will fit and the part number is # BHF30

But you'll need to modify the brake plunger. I just removed the spring from the bolt that screws in on the front of the brake and it holds the brake lever inplace (you'll need to lock tite the screw in place ).

I can post a pic if you have anymore quesitons

I'm gonna resurrect this old thread. I am looking for the same answer and it looks like it was never resolved.

I have the universal brake lever and would like to see a picture of how you modified yours to work with the X4 brake lever perch.

Someone told me to get the one for the CRF450 and it worked with no mods, but ASV does not list any specific lever for the crf. Just a universal that is supposed to fit all late model japanese.

The question is how did you modify the lever to hold the plunger part in place? Having taken the stock brake lever apart, I am really surprized that little plunger piece just sits in there. I would think a fall that broke the lever could also cause that little plunger to fall out and be lost forever.

I took the origional lever off, turned the little plunger thing around with the big end out, screwed the adjuster screw all the way in so the plunger can't fall out. I'll post some pic's in a minuite.

It works sweet and no problems!!!:)

ASV has a lever made specific for the brake master on the X4. I don't recall the part number off the top of my head but the local Pitster dealer just got a batch in for the display shelf. I'll see if I can sneak in after work some time this week and get a part number.

The part# in your pic. is a universal lever, it must be modded like mine to fit.

I didn't have to mod my ASV C5 shorty I put on my SDG/Pitster/Brand X/NSR50 front master two years ago, it just bolted up. I'll try one of the one's Pitster is selling specific for the X4s this week.

The sdg master and the x4 master are different. I had one on my old 50 and it fit with no problems.

P.S. I can't find a part# for the pitster lever on ASV's site..?

It's a crappy picture but I think you can get the idea.

What I don't understand is that is the direction my plunger is on the stock lever, but the stock lever has a little nib bolted in it that holds the plunger in place. How would that big aluminum bump on the lever hold the plunger in place?

I thought I should drill and tap a hole in the asv lever to screw the part from the stock lever into.
