I'd got with a 26mm carb

 

26mm seems to be the way to go. Thats what im running on mine.



If you want crazy throttle responce go with the 24mm, but a 124 has plenty of throttle responce with a 26mm



If you run motard maybe get a 28mm.

 

WE run that exact same setup 124ccSe an Ti-force pipe with a 28mm carb.

Just change the Main jet from a 130 to 115-120 and it will rip.

 

I 28mm flatslide might be a nice combo on that motor. Im happy with my 26mm for MX though.

 

2 of my pals are running the 24mm's, and tried the 26's but like the 24's better.

 

Don't bother with a round slide, Mikuni TM24, TM26, TM28, all depends on if you're looking for teh snappy or crazy top end rush.

 

Mikuni TM26???? Do they make that? If so, where do you get it?

 

D-oh, I goofed. The TM series is available in 24, 28, 32, 34, 36, and 38mm. No 26mm in the TM line. My bad. Be gentle with the tar and feathering.

If you're putting a 24 on, get the TM not the VM.



Seriously, that motor will have no problems pulling enough vacuum to get a good response out of a 24mm carb, and the flatslides once dialed in have stupid good throttle response.

 

I run the vm 26 with both of my 124 se motors and they both run great!

I run both mine in the dirt. and like i said ive have had no carb problems. just mess with the air screw a little from time to time but thats normal with 4 strokes.

never used the 24 only the 26 and crower just put it on the dyno and it got 16.3 hp to the rear wheel so I dont think I would ever want to change it. And I have two of these motors

 

Never even have to use the choke just twist the throttle and kick

Either carb will work fine the flatslide will have great throttle response once dialed in, all depends on what type of riding your doing. Flat slides are trick.

 

I would never go with any other carb, flat slide all the way. I did not find them harder to tune than any other carb.

 

Geeez, such a decision.......i say split the difference and get the TM24 and bore it to 25mm.

 

Would a 28mm flatslide carb give the same throttle responce as a 26mm round slide? From what it sounds like running a 28mm flatslide would give you throttle responce of a 26mm round slide but work better in the high RPM range, making your bike have more overall power. Does that seem right? Im just going on a random guess there so it might not actually work that way.

 

In theory yes. I know my Mikuni TM24 has WAY better throttle response than my Mikuni VM20 had.

 

id go with the TM24 over a round slide even if it is 2mm smaller, better to have higher intake velocity than just a higher cfm carb. for the dirt id def go with the 24 over the 26. good luck

 

run a 26vm with the kitaco short high RPM intake it the best intake on the market right now

 

I have the 24 round slide and Thinking of going with 24 flat slide. I want major mid - top would that work or would 26 round or 28 d slide be better?

 

Im putting a tm24 on my 131cc gpx, 13.5:1 comp, G2 cam, HV porting, yoshi pipe. if that doesnt have enough top end i will switch to the 28 D slide or a TM 28. def get a flatslide, no roundslides.
