ok thinking of getting one but havent heard much good on them. Read up every 10 hours they need a new piston as they are forged and not cast so you have to run the mix abit leaner than usual is this true or do they just take a beating and are they made in china ?

PM Carnutvic. His team Pit Pro riders have been running them and have some great results to speak of. I'm sure he has all the info you seek.
dj is also running a team pitpro and loves his daytona

decent engine makes 11-12hp. very easy to ride, not very torque.

Porting the head makes a HUGE difference on the motor too. Mine has more torgue since it was ported.

Transmission works great. Finding neutral takes a while to get used to and the motor will NOT start in gear. First gear is actually useable too. Don't rev out as soon as you let the clutch out like some other engines do.

Not too many. I would say maybe 4 or 5 if that. You will like the Daytona. Its fast but not crazy uncontrollable. My 10 year old son loves the way it runs because it is smooth feeling. The outer rotor is the best part. It lets the motor rev fast but its not a light swith like the inner rotors are.

Talk to Carnutvic or Dan at Soloman Racing. They have helped me out with all my questions on the motor. Only bad part about the motor is, not everyone carries parts for it.

What Lifan do you have? If its the 140, you can turn it into a real beast with the 152 kit.

i think im going to get the daytona man, yup i have the 140 lifan but in not sure i trust a gasket at 1mm between top and botton of my cylinder haha it might get to crushed down and a piston smashing my valves in im not sure i might do that try it sell it then buy the daytona engine if its still on sale.

I have one and it rips. I got the porting and swirl polish job done and with a mikuni 26mm carb. I like it so far, you have to get used to the shifting a little otherwise you'll get a neutral when shifting in 3rd. Also the outer rotor - I cant get it to work at all! Works great with honda ignition and lightened flywheel and daytona cdi/rev box. And the motor looks trick!

Every single thing I have read is that these "daytona's" are china stuff. First look at the color of the head and cases. Second look at the tranny gear ratios. Y would you pay $1100 for a 11hp china motor? I heard even some DOHC from them were made in china. If this is try drom what I have read I would rather buy a Lifan 150cc, The "Daytona" one. IMO

I just got a Daytona 125 Engine for my Crf50.

Took it out for a test ride on the Street today. And it goes very well.

Very easy to use power, smooth. I was worried about it being hard to ride. Ive ridden my bros Kitaco 117 SE. And it was too hard to ride, i rode my 88 faster haha.

Im running the Daytona Outter rotor also. 26mm Mikuni carb. Fiddled with the Jets and Needle today and got it running great. Ive also got the 4-Up shift drum, its great. No stuffing around finding neutral!

PS. Im running a 95 Main Jet, and running the clip in the middle setting. Im using the Mikuni carb that comes with the engine. Im guessing its a 26mm?
