id imagine you would have to use some sort of inline pump.....



if its going straight across it should work from the pressure created by the weight of the fuel.



do you have a sketch of where the tank would be in relation to the carb and inlet?

 

Is is possible to feed gas from a tank that is NEXT to the engine, using a Mikuni vacuum (diaphragm) fuel pump?



Which port (crank vent?0 would I use to supply the pressure / pulses to make the pump "pump?"

A XT600 pump works on the vacuum that is created in the inlettrack. Cheap and bulletproof.

 

I want to use the vacuum pump, I just need to know if there is a place to get crank pressure. I've attached a pic.



The engine will never be above 2,000 rpm. So it barely needs a trickle.



The fuel has to be pulled up about 10" from the bottom of the fuel tank, across about 12" and into the carb (kinda where the blue line is) . There will be a small fuel filter in-line.

rc nitro cars use pressure from the exhaust to pressurize the fuel tank. but of course its got to be primed on initial start-up.

 

It looks like a UGV to me. Are you going for a DARPA award?

 

used to use that setup in go kart racing briggs engines. drill and tap the intake for a pipe threaded fitting and you will get your pulse from the intake vaccum.

 

We are building a Robotic Vehicle Platform. Yes it can be used for the DARPA style events. The idea is a vehicle that is MADE for this purpose and to not have people modify full size vehicles/golf carts/etc for this purpose.



There are many uses we have planned, one of the biggest is a (multi-purpose) robotic "mule" that follows soldiers in urban environments. Carries their gear, ammo, recharges their batteries, etc, etc (the attached pic is a rough rendering of the "mini-mule" arrangement). Not pretty, but functional.



and it's a hybrid! Gas power generation, electric drive.

We need it to prime when the starter is activated!



We have an electric fuel pump, but we would like to get rid of it. (less wiring, parts to fail, etc...

 

the priming would not really be needed because of the fuel in the float bowl. and you could set up some kind electronic choke? I dont have any pics but it is simple all you need is to run your pulse line to the fitting on the intake(use a 1/8 to 1/4 inch pipe thread fitting with barbed end)

the IN and OUT for fuel is pretty obvious, the one in the centre is connected to the manifold.
