do you leave the key on?

 

Check the charging system.I have the same problem,but my daughter dosent know what OFF means.LOL

 

I ran mine down one time but once I pushed it off it charged the battery right back up.

 

I'll have to make sure my son turns the key off! I never even thought of that. I didn't figure it would draw if not running. thanks!!

 

first battery lasted almost 2 years

2nd lasted a few months

 

Yea, I use my 07' all the time and i even have 2 lights hooked up to it and I never have a problem. But my key is always off...

 

MY SECOND BATTERY JUST DIED SO I JUST BUMP START IT KNOW TILL I CAN GET A NEW ONE IN A WEEK OR TWO...

 

is there a way to charge the battery or do you have to buy a new one?

 

I'm pretty sure you can trickle charge them. Any parts house can do it. I believe its a 6v, but dont quote me lol.

 

It's a 6 volt you can quote me on that. You would have to trickle charge in a low amp setting. most motorcycle trickle chargers are for a 12 volt system.

Were you able to charge your battery?? I have an 07 and I bought the bike from a guy that said the bike sat for 6 months and the battery is complety dead. But I could push star it and ride for hours and try to start it with no juice....

I looked at the battery and looks like you need a special plug to charge it, do you?

You can definatley charge the battery,I used to all the time when I was running my electric strart and some lights.Only cost me $24. aus for a charger.Also if your son keeps leaving the key on just remove the key and buy pass the wireing.

 

I took the battery out last night and the terminals are easy to get to with aligator clips soo no big deal. The battery is 12v @ 2.5 amps, soo luckly my battery charger has such a setting!!! Thanks for your comments.... Ohhh and I'm the big kid riding it!

 

Its a 12 volt system, the bike is an 06 or newer you guys, they havent used 6 volts in bikes since the mid 70s, you will ruin it if you hook it up to a 6volt and anything bigger than a 12 v 1.25 amp charger for more than a couple hours

my ttr wasnt starting one day becausei was riding in the snow and got snow everyere, i was starting and starting it and the battery died, i bump started it in 3rd gear, let it run for about 15 mins, rode it around and it was charged, np after that, maybe your son is leaving his finger on the firing button, it only takes a little touch to start
