I have a 2005 TTR 125 LE and the shock on it is leaking oil. I am told that it is a non repairable shock. I also have yz85 forks on it. I am looking for an OEM replacement shock but everything I find for that bike does not have the hose running to the resivoir in the front like mine does. Do I have a TTR shock or is it YZ? Also is there another bike that bolts up without mods that could raise the rear of the bike about an inch or so? any input is appreciated.

Cant tell with out pictures but I believe you're shock is stock. I had the same set up on a 125LE. The LE also the only model with the aluminum swinger (I believe to offset the added weight from the battery). I don't know if that shock is rebuildable but Ive been told thats the better of the TTR125L shocks. If it comes down to just throwing a shock in there I do have a normal TTR125L shock from a bike I just picked up to part out.

Yes, yamaha (along with other companies) doesn't want most of there shocks to be rebuilt. They want you to drill a 1/4 hole on the shock body and throw it away. They ARE rebuildable. Doing my crf230 shock but it has gone on the back burner for a while

The reason I ask about a shock from a different bike is because I saw a member recently on a build thread put a ttr 230 shock i believe it was. If I have to buy one anyways I was hoping I could kill two birds with one stone by buying a 230 shock if it doesn't raise the rear to high.

Shock is rebuildable or you can order a works set up, also just eBay a stock ttr shock there is a few options. The 230 is another avenue but I have not done it. If your shock has the remote resiviour it can be done but if your shaft is toast it's not worth re building. Buy a used one or works or try a 230.

By the way I tend to ramble haha

Or you can do a YZ85 rear setup on it to match the front you already have. This way you have a lighter swinger, lighter wheel, disc brake, and good suspension that’s buildable for your weight/style as well as re-buildable, of course. And… you get that extra inch you’ve been wanting.

I tend to ramble as well. Must be a Fresno thing. haha

Awesome. Thanks. That is what I was hoping for. I still have not had a chance to take it to the suspension shop yet. Another question. How much lower do you drill a new hole where the upper portion of the shock bolts to so that it raises the rear?
