Okay everyone, I have narrowed down my choice for my engine build to these 3 choices, so let me know your vote/opinion on which one I should do. Here they are...

Takegawa complete 138cc twin spark, superhead +R,(wet or dry clutch?)

Daytona 119cc DOHC 4-valve kit with a daytona 4 speed transmission.

Honda NICE 110cc motor from the UK, 66mm TJR crank, 59mm takegawa piston, total of 180cc's.

Let me know what each and everyone of you would chose out of these 3 motors and WHY you think it is the best choice.

Thank you!

I'm going to be putting this motor in my bbr frame crf 50 that Iam racing in the 10" rockstar and fat boy class at masters of minis.

Haha I like the fatass comment, (I'm not fat, just "heavy". Let's just say 6' 2", 215lb, 34"er lol) so I do need a good motor to pull my fat ass around, atleast more so than a 115lb emo tight pants wearing kid. Lol

And my plan is to put the takegawa 106 motor that is in my bbr crf bike and put that into my other crf which I'm making a supermotard bike!

I know this isn't the best motive to be doing a sick engine but I pretty much just wanna be able to pull my friends on there 250F's on the straights on the track for giving me crap about riding my 50's more than my 450! Lol there is my rambiling for the afternoon.

Oh and to "Z" I agree with you. Hot shot monkeys is where I have been looking at for the nice180 set up. They sell a 180 kit that strokes your nice110 to 180cc's with the use of a 59mm tak piston and 66mm tjr crank that hot shot monkeys sell as part of their kit.

Oh and question, the takegawa 138 twin spark motor that is $5,500. Msrp I am refering to. You can get it just as a +r non twin spark and the price will drop? I didn't think you could change the parts on that motor as it is already a complete motor they sell minus the carb and kickstarter... I love what they did to that crank so you can bore and stroke the crap out of that motor! But I think I would be scared to after I pay that price! Lol

If you follow the forums, you'll see the original poster doesn't want someone else's used goods and the Chinese Daytona DOHC 150 isn't on his list of options. My recommendation would be to use the classifieds to sell your engine and not the CRF50 forums.

Additionally, you nor anyone else has any basis to make horsepower claims comparing a newly released 150 DOHC to a 180+R. If you can't be 100% certain, it's not worth using speculation to sell your goods.

I do know actually I have built a few bikes it's the fastest motor I've ridden.

Also brought it to pax to prove the hp so yeah like I said it's a bomb motor

I also didn't ask for your recommendation I could care less what you have to say

I did see your 150DOHC motor in the for sale section but honestly just dont want a used motor. I know it is probally a mint motor in great shape but I dont even want a 1% chance of something being wrong. That is why I want a new motor.

And I am getting a quote and the different options emailed to me as we speak from a vendor.

So, now that I ruled out the daytona it is down to the amazing takegawa 138 crate motor and the nice110/180 stroker. How can the 138 compare to the NICE180 pure power? Takegawa says that the 138 motor makes right about 20 hp and I have read on several posts that the NICE180 can make upwords of 30HP! Opinions?

Thanks!

If it were me, and i had no money limit, i would build a huge yx. Get a 155z, get the 178 big bore, and It should be somewhere around 190 - 200cc's if im right. Cant do the math. Lol. But Get somone to make you some cases outta billet cnc, and go from there. In your situation though, i guess go with the 180.

I have a TJR 146 Nice with the +R head and as others have said, LOADS of torque! I ride this bike 3 or 4 days a week and it starts first kick and is dead reliable.

Zero Tranny or Clutch issues after flogging it for 16 months.

HSM (Hot Shot Monkey's)

for the DOHC Daytona nice's upto 180cc (where mine came from ;)

dirk and his team at hotshot are renowned for the conversion of the dohc's

the first were built 4-5 years ago

TJR

for +R nices and "maybe" on request "takegawa" dohc nices to around 176cc

a tjr 66/62mm crank is always used in the tunes, due to the quality of the german engineering :)

as far as the hp goes i'd say mid 20's cant be sure till its dyno'd.

the torque is ridiculous!! just a short grunt in each gear "quick shifting" gets you around fast

The takegawa motors are undoutably awesome

i own a 124 twinspark +R ,,54/54 (not the private engine,,this one's built by me)

as Z said its a bit of a gimmick the twinspark bit, but hey it looks better than the cast +R cover

that said its a little more cost, including that extra plug every rebuild :(

the complete motors are without carb, kickstart and IGNITION! a costly addition to think about

which ever way you go, your now whittled down to the best choice's of motor on the scene

either are a race winner in the right hands

i do know of this bulldog 200cc pitbike, it has three overhead cams, more horsepower than anything in the world, wheelies, skids, if you burnout hard enuff the tyre comes off the rim,, oh and this badass is for sale ;)

Just got a price on a takegawa 138 complete motor, and all idk if I'm gonna be able to pass up this deal! What are the remaining parts gonna fun me for this motor? 26mm mikuni-$270, kickstarter cr85-$80-90, ignition-???

what takegawa transmission would be good pick for an option on the 138 crate motor. I am going to be doing mostly wide open motocross riding, a fair amount of tight track supercross, but also want good top end if I decide to use this motor for my supermotard build instead of my takegawa 106 +R motor.

i was running a daytona dohc 119 on my 50 and let me tell u that thing was a beast u dont even need no more power then that. the front end alaways wants to come off the floor. U berly use 4th gear on a big track. I put it in my BBR 110 and its still fast as **** it pulls holeshot like no tomorrow. and that the truth.

i think it comes with the 4 speed, 1 down 3 up, crf50 motocross gearbox

which is the one you'd want ;)
