Pitpro comp 09 review

I haven't seen anyone else post a review about the 09 pitpros on here, so since I've finally got one myself I'll do it. (This is the PP comp w/ mz and dnm)

First look:

As I got the bike I was very excited to see how the new frame looked and it actually seemed smaller and lighter than what I had expected. I went through every nut and bolt and the finish of the bike was very impressive. I had expected there would be a lot of parts that I would change before I would even test the bike, but after the assembling I decided to leave the bike bone stock.

I did see a few things that I did not like though: The hubs had a poor finish. Some of the paint had pealed off. And the chain seemed to be very weak, but I didn't change it.

First ride:

After the engine break-in it was time to put the bike to the test. The suspension was awesome and the engine had tons of power. The MZ was a great improvement over the stock X4 fork and I was surprized that the DNM shock worked so well. The bike was very easy to handle and I loved the gripper seat.

As always there were a few things that had to be fixed: The gascap didn't seem to be tight and therefore gas was coming out from the top of the tank. The engine also began leaking oil (which really got me scared), but it turned out to be a rubber plug that had come loose. The problem with the gascap was solved by replacing the gascap.

Final verdict:

Iv'e ridden the bike several times now and had raced on it two times and there has been no issues since the first ride. I'm really pleased with the fit and finish of this bike and it is just a blast to ride it on the track and IMO it handles way better than the X4. Even though the bike is a little pricey it is well worth the money.

I can post pictures later if anyone wants to see the bike;)

It handles better than an X4? Isn't it the same as a Pitster?

Oh yeah and we need pics or we don't believe you even have what you say you do! :p

This bike is very different from a Pitster, the frame is completely different from all other chinese common frame designs (mean klx cradle clones or from the trendy of the moment, crf70 clone bikes...), this frame has the swingarm bolted inside the two spares and not outside, its very close (in design) to a ktm sx frame and can feature (optional) an absolute new and awesome WP pds rear shock with low&high speed regulation valve.

The only things a would change are a good exhaust (FMF maybe) , a real PE28 carb and a good white powdercoating job for both frame&hubs..

Finally got some pics today. I had the air filter off for cleaning when I took the pictures... I am not an expert, but I guess that it is a real Keihin PE28 carb on the bike. And yes, the exhaust is very long, but it makes the bike silent and the nieghbours happy.

So how are you liking the Daytona 150? Is it smooth? Does it make pretty good power with the PE28 on there? I've seen some pretty lofty claims of around 18hp at the rear wheel with these motors.

It is a great engine for sure. I've had put it to the test at my local mx track with some pretty rough straightaways, and combined with the suspension I get through these sections a lot faster than I used to. I'm not sure if it makes 18 hp though.

Yeah I heard about the frame problem. I got a mail from Pitpro a week ago and they said they had a problem with the first frames on the 09's (I've had no problems though) so they have shipped a new reinforced frame out to everyone who bought their comp bike. I just revieved my new frame, so i guess I have to dissamble the whole bike... again!

i think that those kind of problems could happen even to major brands (i have a picture of a 2009 ktm 250f frame opened like a toona can just under the steering tube, it was a bike of a friend of mine during a regular practice day...), the real problem is if the producer is close with a prompt help to the customers after that this happen, and Pitpro staff it is.

I think that new Pitsters have same frame.

Your thinking is wrong, the new LXR Pitsters share NO frame components with this bike, The only part shared is the little aluminum hex that adjust the brake pedal hieght, and the actual foot pegs. Pitsters frame design is their own as this is Pitpros own frame design. There had been NO frame failures or issues on any production LXRs!!

atleast they are produces at the same factory from what i have heard...

I think PP has serious quality problems, and they have to reinforce the frames. A closer look at the material it looks like regular steel and really thin, not suprised they cracked.

Pitpro havent always been nice to their customers, here in Sweden theyre known for bad attitude to their customers and dealers. Somehow they still sell most bikes, maybe because people think that the more expensive it is the better it must be.......

Their new WP suspension sux really. I tried snakepits new Ohlins suspension, and that shock rox the hell out of Elka, WP and all other brands ive tested.

Snakepit will soon be delivering shocks to the US ive heard so if your about to get the best shock on the market Ohlins is the deal.

Listenin to what you are remarking, seems that you have something more against Pitpro folks...are you a sweden opposite competitor pitbike brand or what???:D:D

I have occasionally bought stuff directly from them (PitPro) and they were been always very kindly and precise in their business, so i do not see the reason why you 're so angry with them.

Well i got another thing to say, pitpro sucks!

At the first big championship here in Sweden three of there new pro comp frame brake apart.

I send a few pic so you see that it´s not bull****

After this jump, right?!

Don't forget that "Sjoddan" is a close friend to guys on the company "Snakepit" here in Sweden. Pitpro and Snakepit are good bikes.
