Since you're in NZ there are two sellers of 1 piece CNC alloy slingers on ebay OZ ... The only thing I don't like about them is that they're machined to a sharp corner which could possibly form a stress riser ... They'd be better off if they had a radiused fillet ...

A machined steel slinger will be super reliable ... I was referring to where the outside surface of the splined section meets the start of the flanged section ... You don't want a sharp corner at that point because it can cause a crack to start ... especially in an alloy part ... Use a radiused tool tip ... You should always remove sharp outer edges so people don't get cut ... that's a standard machinists rule ...

Here's a link on how to lighten steel slingers ... the overall length of the steel slinger should be left stock ...

Does it matter it being bigger than stock though?

no,,,,you will just rev up slower but it wont hurt

history lesson 2005-now

basically the older gpx / jialing and lifan 120/140 motors had the large heavy oil slingers/filters

then

we machined them down at first until an aluminum unit became available

and these worked better and held up good on the gpx 124cc type motors

but

the yx150/160 motors like to break these aluminum units

so we went back to steel units trimmed to the lightest possible

my recommendation after doing this a great number of times

gpx124cc/yx140 = aluminum slinger

yx150/160 = steel slinger / turned or lightened
