anyone seen these yet? I just put one on order and should be getting it this weekend for my pitster pro X2. It already has the 160bbk in it so I'm hoping these huge valves are a big improvement. It says the valves are 30/23.5 which is really close the the V2 head at 30/24.5

what do you guys think?

killer110.... when you get this running let me know I have the same head/cylinder but with tb28mm carb. what carb are you running?

well i had the molk 26mm that comes stock but the intake on it does not mount up with that new manifold you get with the head kit (it's triangular and the new manifold comes with a round boot). So...for now I am borrowing my friends oko 26mm until i get a new one which will probably be a vm 26 or tb28

Over lap is when both valves are open at the same time.

If the cam is phased in properly and the rest of the engine is tuned right opening of both valves at the same time can aid in cylinder scavaging which can lead to MORE HP.

That's the biggest problem with the CRF based style head is that because of the stud placement and rocker arm geometry you can't change the angle of the valves and put them at a shallower angle.

So in the interest of making more power, companies install bigger valves while in theory it should make more power, sometimes you lose.

Too big a valve can lead to clearance issues ( against themselves depending on cam profile ) The valves themselves are heavier which means stiffer springs which take away HP.

This head will be fine, but there are more ways to make HP than to just stuff bigger valves in the head.
I was worried about the newer heads for the yx and ksr/klx.The ksr/klx head with the 34/29 is what i'm gonna get.But i never thought about the valve over lap issue.:( I have the v2 race head and i love it.But i'm always looking for more.

the head comes with a manifold?

just to clarify a few notes/questions

the tb 300 cam is MFG recomended AND we recommend this unit for this head ,we ran the 300 in the lifan and yx140 heads with very good results ,Infact our 146cc dyno was the first import to top 15hp and it ran the tbwo300 cam

on the intakes

you can get this head with / with out cam ,intakes carbs ect what every way you want we have it set up

if you have a china flang intake our adaptor boot will allow u to run a spigot mount type 24-28mm carb

im trying currently to find a de-comp type cam to run in this head

as far as the roller rockers go , agreed that there a better set up ,but if you saw this 160 w/ 30/23.5 run you would be impressed

I just ran it today, but not for very long. It was too cold today to really run it and I was having oil cooler issues. Just got to heat cycle it once and ride it for a min. Felt really good with more snap but I didn't get to rev it out. I probably won't get to ride it again until mototown next saturday. i'll let you know more then.

and to answer your question boonacka, like crkid said you should use this cam. no reason to use the stock one.

Finally got to ride the thing at mototown yesterday.

I REALLY like this new setup. It has a very smooth delivery but still has a lot of power. Way more power than just the stock head and 160 kit. It pulls longer and harder than the stock head. It doesn't have that snap/jerk like my 170 V2 but still has plenty of power. I think some of that my be because I don't have a lightened oil slinger on the 160 but on the 170 i do.

I ran it with a tb28mm carb with the jets that came in it and it ran flawlessly. No bogs, burps or anything wierd. Definitely an awesome setup. I would recommend it to anyone. I might even like it better than my 170v2 but but i haven't decided yet. Man it feels good when you make a good purchase! :) this is the most rideable fast motor i have ridden.
