Okay, I bought two 08 klx 110's from a cycle shop back in may. One i built the engine and the other is a stocker, Well the stocker lost power, started smoking and has oil coming out the exhaust. The stocker hasn't be rode that hard, just rode a lot of wheelies on it. But when i bought the bikes, i tore one down to build the engine to put my big bore kit on and when i drained the oil, i drained it in paint mixing cups. The engine had double the recommended oil capacity in it. I called the cycle shop the same day and asked why the bike would have that much oil in it, i really got no answer, they asked why i was changing the oil so soon, but I checked the oil in the stocker and it was the same way so i did an oil change in it also. But has anyone ran into this problem or know whats wrong with my stocker, But also i rebuilt the engine, new head gasket, base gasket and used the other stock head, the piston and rings looked fine, but i guess its gotta be the piston rings ,b/c its still smoking and blowing oil out the pipe.

the 08s are nothing but problems. a lot of my friends went out and got them right away, and they had to much oil in them, and they rings went out like right away. and also they are all having problems with the stock cam for some reason.

I worked at a honda/yamaha shop years ago. The bikes came shipped without oil. That was part of setup and assembly. Have things changed?

I asked today at the cycle shop and the lady told me that the bikes came shipped with oil, but i was in the back when the guys went over the 2 bikes i bought, They filled them up with oil... but yea i got the headgasket and basegasket today, have it tore apart again.. so this time a new piston and rings and new gaskets, and maybe it will work out but it just pisses me off that i couldn't get any help at the cycle shop, like they thought i was doing something wrong by draining the oil the day i bought the bike... but you can't explain anything to them... its always the customers fault why the bike broke...

i've never heard of bikes being shipped with oil. so maybe the tech put another qt. in not knowing. the only other thing to check or replace is the valve-seals. that could cause oil in the exhaust. now for the why. it is possible with the oil pickup in the front of the engine if your riding very very long wheelies to starve the topend of oil.

Yep, my stock 08 burns oil also. But....i have already ordered an akunar high compression stock bore piston and a top end gasket kit. And an fmf 4.1. Damn does that fmf sound an look great!! By thw way, im making an intake out of the stock intake boot and a clamp on filter, im going to tune it right and see how she performs. Im going to make a thread about it and keep you guys updated.

they cannot ship a bike with oil in. it is against the epa standards for shipping potentialy hazardous materials
No. If that's true how does foreign oil get into the US? And I know VWs come to this country with oil in them...

It's smoking because it's a Kawasaki! >:D

But really, did you try to get it fixed under warranty or did that expire?

No they didn't do anything about it, the bike started smoking like a tar pit the second day i had it, ( i bought 2 of them). The other bike blew up about a week later, but i did ride it about an hour before i realized their was too much oil in it. But i called and they asked why did you drain the oil for.. you don't need an oil change... but i did a 143cc kit on one bike and rebuilt the other bike back stock. But i did call them the next day after i bought the bikes about the oil problem.
