I have forks off of an SDG speed mini (I think...) and I have been using them for a while now.... Well today I loaded my bike up in the truck to ride it and my dad was checking it out and he said that there was alot of play in the front end. So we took it out of the truck and tore the front end apart. We tried just tighting the spanner nut but no matter how tight we got it we still had wobble and the bike got to a point where it was impossible to steer. So we took the tripple tree of and the spanner nut off. We ended up coming to the conclusion that they probably always wobbled I just never noticed it becuase the top peice that goes over the bearing didnt fit around the steering stim very tightly....So it was wobbling because the peice was to big and we then experimented by putting the metal peices on my stock forks and they fit mutch more snugly so we came to the conclusion that the steering stems are different sizes...... After figuring this out my dad said that the bike is un safe with these forks and I cant ride it... So it heck of sucked it would have been some sweet riding today! Now I have to wait till tuesday when my staggs forks get here..(it's not to far away LOL)

damn that sucks. mine have alot of play in them and its annoying but i reallly never really care tat much about it because i've limited all of my posssibilities
If you can see visible wear on the stem, you didn't have the bearings torqued down correctly. That slop left in the system would then RAPIDLY destroy ANY stem.
No I cant see any ware..... It looks the same as when I bought it. It doesnt really matter to me though because I bought some staggs sxpros! I am going to try and fix the knock off forks and sell them. If I cant find out the problem I will just keep them around the garage..... If any one wants them I would sell them working condition for like$100 with front wheel and brake.(it needs new perch because some kid ran into it with his 80 and broke the part off that holds the lever.)
