Motor swaps during races?

Does any one race two different motor classes (88cc) and the open class with the same bike, and do the swaps between races? I was thinking about building a second motor, but I don't wan't to spend the money to build a complete bike again. Was wondering if other racers do it?

You would probable want air and an O-ring intake for something like that...adjustable exhaust mount for the different length cyllinders and either a carb that runs good on both or a complete carb setup on both engines...Hose clamp oil cooler lines.....just some ideas if your gonna do it.

ya, its a good idea, doesnt take me long at all swapping motors in and out. everyone had good suggestions. def have complete motors ready to hook up and have extra motor mount bolts and stuff like that in case you lose some during the swap- its bound to happen at some time.

I have thought about that if you ahve complete motors its realy not a big deal. last weekend my we did something like that my bike has zokes and sano swingarm and ishock and set up for dirt but stock motor right now so we took my buddys motard motor put it in my bike to race sat night at indoor sx track then sunday swapped to race indoor kart track sunday night on the motard bike

some of the races that i have raced thier isn't much time between races to swap. So you better be pretty good at it. And if your changing gearing and stuff then you will have to adjust the chain. Anything is possible but if you aren't fast you run the risk of missing the race.

i gotta agree with this guy the races go pretty quick in the pitibke world. you either better hope the race order is in your favor or be damn fast at swapping that stuff out.. to be honest it sounds like you are going to be waiting for maybe an expensive mistake to happen when working that fast

Its possible what I would do is obviously have both of them use the same wiring harness, and I would have a complete carb setup on both and have two different exhausts and leave the headers bolted onto the motor. And get yourself a cordless impact wrench, they are a big time saver I use a hitachio one from lowes and I love it. I think it was only like 130. If you do it like I said all you would have to do is pop the seat and plastic, exhaust canister bolt, engine mount bolts, wiring connections and the fuel line. I imagine you could do it fairly quick and like i said its possible but it may get old if there is no much time in between motos and when you are worn out and you will be rushing so it would be kindof a b1tch but doable nonetheless.

Thart would get old very quick! swapping motors can be done quickly, i''ve had to 20 minutes before a race, i sure as hell wouldnt want to do it after each moto, or qualifier. too much can go wrong when your in a rush.
