I just purchased a brand new leftover 2007 and didn't realize that the little Kawi was built and assembled in Taiwan. I just assumed that it would be entirely manufactured in Japan. Was everyone else aware of this?

Most small motorcycles that the big Japan companies market are not made in Japan. go to any Honda , Yamaha, Kawasaki dealer and ask to walk through the warehouse, You will see more boxes that say made in China/Tiawan than Japan.

You are correct, "elbows", it says Thailand on mine too, my bad.

I have a CRF450 and a KX250, both of those say, Made in Japan.

Good website here, glad I found it. I have only had my 110 for one day, but plan to change a lot of things on it.

I comtemplated buying a Pitster Pro or other chinese pit bike, but was too nervous.

I don't know enough about the chinese bikes to call them crap. I am sure that some are just fine. My reasoning is that even though the Kawi is made in Thailand, it is still manufactured according to Kawasaki's specifications. In addition, Kawi is a well known brand and would want to take fairly reasonable precautions to protect their image. It all comes down to risk. I just think that there is more risk involved when purchasing a chinese bike. I am by all means no expert, but am a consumer and make a lot of purchases based on reputation and longevity in the industry. I am also somewhat brand loyal. If I were looking for a race-ready pit bike out of the crate, then I probably would have went with a Pitster Pro. I am looking forward to modifying the little 110 though.

it doesn't matter where its made... Honda and Kawi hold the manufacturing plant to QUALITY standards.... they dictate how everything is made and the quality of the materials....they can't just send everything out the door like a china clone manufacturer.

The klx110 motor is also in a kawaski scooter that is distributed in thailand. Thats why they leave the fouth gear in the motor but blank it out on the shift drum for the 110. If you ever have split the cases before there is a lot of room in the rear of the cases for other things like a electric start.
