Hey everyone so I have a klx with a 143 kit, yoshimura exhaust and jetted stock carb with air box mod. I want to upgrade the head. So should I build and port and polisht the stock head or can I do like a 155z ho head? I have access to a good builder who does great port and polish jobs.so o could get any of the heads machined. Let me know what you guys think. Also if I upgrade carbs do you think a vm26 will suffice for this build?

Already has bigger valves and ports than the stock head. Bolts on like the stock head. Check the piston to valve clearance. Picture shows what correct piston should look like. Most 143cc kits come with the correct piston. There are 3 different intake manifolds that can use the VM26. One for the stock head, one for the race head w/25mm intake port, and V2 heads w/27mm intake port.

For what it's worth here's my thoughts. A heads a head brand X can be made to outperform brand Y or vise versa. Some just require more work and money to be invested to get where you wanna be. So with that said it depends on ur needs such as budget, is there restrictions such as have to use stock head, are you wanting as simplistic as possible.

If there's no restrictions and your not on a tight budget. The tb V2 is a great bang for the buck head plus its a great platform to build on if more power is desired

If on a tight budget and don't have a head restriction the ho head will make more power over a stock or ported stocker.

If really no budget in mind but have a restriction that engine has to utilize factory head. Take it your guy have him oversize seats and valves, and throw a good port job on it.

I personally don't recommend this unless 1.) you do all your own machining. 2.) have restrictions where you have to run the stock head. There are to many aftermarket heads at very affordable prices to put all that work into the factory head

Hope this helps some

I am also looking to purchase a head, I have never been into a 4 stroke engine so I am learning as I go here, I have a 06 klx110 FMF exhaust and stroker crank, I just bought a BBR 143 kit with cylinder and cam but it didn't come with a head, will any head work or is there a specific one I am needing, also needing a carb too any help would be great! I'm not trying to but in I just don't want to start another thread right next to this one!!! Thanks guys

I was wanting to do an aftermarket head....On BBR.com the BBK I have on order has an optional parts section at the bottom but it won't let me buy it from them, they have it on fasterminis.com I just don't know enough about the different types of kits to know what all will work together and whats better than another etc. This is what I have on order BBR Motorsports, Inc - Products the 143 with cam for $329.95 .... this is what I found on fasterminis with the same description Mikuni 26mm Performance Carb Kit for Race Heads from Trail Bikes - Trail Bikes - Pit Bike Parts and Kamikaze 110 Big Valve Head - Red Baron - Pit Bike Parts....If anyone knows of any problems I may run into or if they recommend something else please let me know! Greatly appreciated

This is our latest complete kit to turn your KLX110 into an absolute beast!
This kit includes our new Race Head V2 and while the new head may appear to be the same on the outside as our other KLX110 type race head, internally it has gone through numerous changes.
The addition of roller rocker arms and a new camshaft are the biggest changes followed by bigger valves and ports.
The exhaust valve is now stainless as well (21-4N material).
This all adds up to a cylinder head that puts out a professional level of performance yet is still affordable for the privateer rider.
The kit also includes an all aluminum ceramic plated 64mm skirtless cylinder.
This cylinder is lighter than a steel sleeved aluminum cylinder, reduces friction (increasing power), improves sealing, and provides better heat transfer (runs and cools down quicker). We top off the roller head with a 28mm performance carb kit that is easy to tune and works great with this large bore kit. Unlike other kits, our head gasket kit also includes a head o-ring set and exhaust gasket so you don't have to re-use your old ones or make a trip to your local dealer to get new ones and spend more money. These are high quality parts and require no machining to the cases or other modifications - bolt on and go!

There are no installation instructions, but if you can replace your piston, you can install this kit. If you don't have any experience working on your engine, we highly recommend having a professional technician install this kit or, at a minimum, purchasing the shop manual for your bike available in this section or from your local Kawasaki or Suzuki dealer. The parts are installed in the same manner as the OEM parts.
