High Volume oil pump install question

Whats the other part for at the bottom of the picture? TB High Volume Oil PumpCT70 ATC70 Z50 Vintage K0-81 - TB Parts - Z50 K0-78 - TBW0225-6V - TBolt USA, LLC

I watched a video guide on youtube on this install and this wasn't covered. Any other guide I come across doesn't mention it either.

Also the pump I received had a female end and wasn't compatible since both had the same slotted ends. I opened up the old pump and swapped out the little part so the new pump had the male end to fit into the slotted part and then being able to turn properly.

it is the pump driveshaft. and you were suppose to change it too

Thanks...I think lol.
Will it lower performance of the oil pump if I dont switch that out? All I did was swap out the gears in the oil pump so they would fit correctly.

swapping out drive ends... are you mating the correct pump to the correct carter? 6v and 12v pumps do not only differ at the drive connection but also where te pump connects to the carter. (oil channels)

Both made for 6volt engines. I only swapped the male and females ends out. Im sure I am not calling it by the correct term. But it now matches up perfectly with the already existing drive.
